    Boat Drawer Installation?

I have a 2010 Z8 and was wondering if anyone has installed a boat drawer for the starboard console which comes with the newer models. I found this drawer on Great Lakes Skipper for the Z9 and am wondering if it would fit?

I ordered both the port and starboard drawers for my Z8 when I bought the boat from BPS. They were options for the Z8 and standard on the Z9. However I can't get BPS to install them on the Z8 for some reason. Looks simple to do if I could find a template for cutting the holes in the console footrest stumps.

If you have them couldn't you make a template with the seam between the drawer and the housing, the. Just add a 1/10th inch around? I'm exited I was wondering if they fit and how much were they?

Thank you for the replies, I am not sure if there is any foam insulation behind the foot board but I will be sure to post pictures if I get the courage to cut it open. At least start with a small pilot hole and feel around or use a plumbing camera.

I don't think they are any foam to worry about there. raise your rod locker I think the floor board is in that area

NO FOAM in that area. I currently have a speaker in there for my stereo on my Z8, but I have also purchased the drawer from GLS.

Ordered one, just got it in the mail - super solid and well made BUT does NOT fit my 2011 Z8...it is probably about 15% too long/tall - I took the frame off of the box to see if you could modify it - and it "might" be possible but probably wouldn't look that great (if I did it) another thing even if you can modify the frame (cutting it back on one side) the box itself would require a VERY accurate cut with very little/zero room for error...so looks like I have a $168 ($149+shipping) paper weight - I'll do something with it...I know this type of box was an Option but they must have had specific ones for a Z8 (vs Z9) that were slightly smaller. Sucks because it's really well made and would be handy storage.

    Good Luck.

That sucks! I know I saw the option on 2014 z8. Didn't see it on my 2015 tho. Grrrr. I want one. I may have to get a ruler and protractor in the boat this weekend and see if mine is different than yours.

Yep sucks - I don't have access to a Z9 to measure - but watching a few older boat review videos it looks like the drawer I have is same (tough to tell to 100% tho) but the step area on the Z9 looks slightly larger/angled a little differently - an the Frame fits flush/runs right to the edge of the step.

Looking at the frame again last night I am considering trimming the North East Corner (1 or 2 o'clock position) back leaving about a 1/8-1/4" of lip/drawer recess - I think it might fit (you would lose the far right mounting hole) and if it looked very butchered at least that portion would be facing the trash can/cooler part of the step and not really visible. Might be a later in the season project.

    Good luck.

Put mine in this week. No issues at all. 2013 Z8. When you order from Greatlakesskipper.com, be sure to get the Z8 version. There is a Z9 AND a Z8 drawer on there.

tgrife, that looks so good!! I have port and starboard console drawers that came with my '15 Z8 that I have not put on yet. They look to be the exact same size as yours. They didn't come with a template. Little scared of cutting into the fiberglass. Can you tell me how you started out, what kind of cutting tool to use and anything to watch out for. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, no template here either. I held up the box on the fiberglass and traced around it. Then I measured how far off the trim the drawer was and used that as a guide. I used a rotzip to cut out the box in the fiberglass smaller than my tracing/measuring since I can always go larger, but I can't go smaller. I'd just adjust my trimming after trying to fit the box in until it slid right in. Got it pretty much perfectly lined up luckily. Looks and works great!

Tgrife - looks great - I didn't see a Z8 version when I ordered mine - clearly a Z9 size. FYI - they did have another one but it was much larger not for Z boat. Live and learn.

    Thanks.
