Height diference 12' talon vs 10' power pole

I am have been wanting power poles on my 2012 Puma. I want the most depth I can get so I was thinking the 10' blades. Then I see a picture of a boat with 10' blades and notice they are way above the motor. So I have been rethinking this and I fished with a friend of mine that has 10' talons and noticed they were about the height of the motor. I fished out the back of the boat and no problem at all. So here are my questions...

    1. Is there a height difference between a 10' blade and a 12' talon?

    2. Does Minn Kota offer a mount to a Dewiler JP?

    3. I know though the all mighty BBC I can get some great deals on the power poles but have not heard of any great deals on talons. Am I missing something?

    4. As far as mounts which are more expensive?

    Thanks guys!!!

    1. Yes there is a height difference by quite a bit. The Blades are about 68" tall and the 12' Talons are 57" tall. There is also a weight difference. The Talons w/ mounts will weigh about 15lbs more per side than the Power Poles overall when you include brackets.
    2. Minn Kota Talon mount is universal to any JP.
    3. You can check out any board sponsors for deals or Universal Mania.
    4. The Talon mounts are $329/piece (cheaper maybe used or board sponsor or universal mania again). Plus factor in tilt brackets if you want those. Can't find any info for the correct PP adapter brackets needed for your boat & JP setup. But generally about $405 for both braced brackets from PP. Much smaller bracket. Hydrilla Gear (Board Sponsor) makes a custom plate for power poles if you need to fold them down.

I have dual 12' Talons on a Triton 19XS with ProXS 225. They stick up about 6" above the cowling and I have fished from the back and they've never got in my way, or any of my passengers way either.

I also have the 12' Talons and love them. Have had many people fish from the back and they don't ever complain about them. But buy the tilt brackets though. I have been to some places where they were just a bit to tall, the tilt bracket were life savers.

OK the 12' talons sound OK as far as height goes, but now I am worried about weight. As someone said earlier they are about 15 sounds heavier per side plus all the weight hanging off the back of the boat. In the heat of the summer i have a problem with holeshot on my bass Cat puma with a 26 fury. I think I would have to buy a prop as well. What do y'all think?

Put extra venting on your Fury 26" and you will be good. RR

^^^^^ I'd start with what Roger said for sure!

Worst case scenario you will have to get a 4-blade prop like the Fury 4 to help holeshot and carry the load for mid-range. Either way the Talons or Power Poles is going to affect your holeshot somewhat unless you adjust something. I personally wouldn't be worried about the weight difference between the two unless you are really that concerned about your 74 mph top end vs having 77 mph top end.... Get what you like.

No I am not worried about top end. I fish smaller tidal rivers mainly. My boat does not see 70mph now. I believe the fish will be waiting for me. I am to old for the speed now days. Thanks again to everyone. I just really want something on the back tol hold me in this high current I fish.

I've fished out of boats with both 10ft blades, and 12ft Talons. Both have their pros and cons. I personally like the Talons because they are shorter overall than the 10ft blades, and the new ones are whisper quiet. Just my $.02 worth, but everyone has their own opinion.

I bought 2 12ft black talons at $1343.00 each and all the mounts and tilt brackets with quick disconnects for $1054.00 then had all my brackets black anodized so about $3750.00 complete with shipping. There was a special price on black Friday with 72 available sold out in about an hour, universal mania.com has them for $1599.00 each if they're still on sale. I'm installing mine currenyly.
