I am picking up a mercury 225 EFI to put on my 89' Gambler 206. I was wondering what a good prop to start with may be. I was thinking 26 fury but I want to make sure I can still get out of the hole. TIA.
I will also be installing an 8" HJ JP.

A Fury has an excellent hole shot, good choice.

you think a 26 is a good pitch or should I go down? Hoping to hit the nail on the head on the first shot as they get pricey.
Where are you located? Im running a 26 fury on my 200 efi 19'3" Intimidator
Sarasota FL. Picking up the EFI on Sunday and just trying to see what prop works best before I fork out the cash.
I know the feeling too bad your not closer I would let you try my 26
If that 225 is healthy, a 26 should work. Also depends on how you load your boat with weight etc. There's a 25 Fury for 300 and and a 26 Fury for $350 in the props for sale section

What year 225 Efi?
Sterling 22XS / Mercury Pro XS V8
2000
Those run really well mid range and top end, the 96-98s had a rough time with bottem end propping...you should be good with a 26 fury, but a trophy 27 will be a great prop as well..

My 93 206TE with a 250EFI runs a 26p Tempest Plus worked with extra cup and forward progression. I have a 27p Fury that needs work, so I have never run it. The Tempest Plus has great hole shot and my top end so far is 76.1mph with crappy lower units. Once I get a solid LU on it, I hope to hit 80.
26 trophy + with 2 holes open..
my 90 206 with a 2002 225 efi likes my 27 tempest or 27 fury. I hit the 5600 rev limiter with the 26, hole shot is awesome with the 27 even with 2 or 3 guys in the boat. top speed solo was the fury 76.7 the termpest has me at 76.4. best 2 guy run was with my tempest in the winter 76.3
