    NEW 2017 BF250

Have a new White BF250 on order for a Black and White Alumacraft Comp 205.
Wishing for an early spring in Wisconsin too see what this motor will do!

Hope the amount of Honda posts reflects the amount of issues with them. Already hear grumbles from my fellow Merc/Yammy/Rude owners.

One full season and 60 hrs on mine with zero issues. The white and black looks sharp.

Think I'm being set up with either a Solas Titan or the High Rake Titan. Likely in a 19 or 20 pitch for this deep v walleye/multispecies ride. Heard Mercury props and maybe others work with Honda's as well.

Mercury owners manual for my 115 four stroke states "vent plugs not recommended". IDK the science behind why they don't need them. From my reading, four stroke already has the low end torque to spool up the engine and Opti (for example) needs venting to help engine spool up. My real world experience.. 225 Opti ran best with 2 med vents and 1 left out for my application and the 115 four stroke shook at idle when I tried med vents and hole shot suffered. Went to solid and it ran smooth and jumped on plane.

The prop will just blow out and never get out of the hole. To much ventilation. If you go with a mercury or similar prop just put in solid plugs.

Don't give up on the motor, might take you a few props before you get it dialed in. It will be a great engine on that boat, especially if you are going to troll a lot.

Hope we get it right in the first prop or two. I don't know if my resources or funds will allow me to go through too many props. I'm about a 50/50 bass & walleye guy. Suspect trolling hours will be less than 20% with a 112 up front. Love casting cranks for both!

I have a 23 pitch mercury revolution on mine and love it. I just put a bf250 on my 206 champion.

Guessing low 70's? The 206 is a wonderful ride. Missing my old 201

Doubt you will hit 70 with a 23p but I could be wrong. My 225 has a different ratio lower on it turning a 26p to 6,100 rpm and the fastest I've seen is 74. I think mid 60's is achievable with the setup described by bigfram65

I would get 73 gps from my 201 with a 225 Opti and 24p TempestPlus, no jackplate and max rpm's.... by myself. 69mph tournament days.

For this 1800# Alumacraft, both the Honda and Mercury prop calculators estimate a 21p Solas Titan HR or Tempest Plus based on my weight "guesstimates".

I'm getting 67-68. I'm not worried about speed. I wanted the reliability and gas mileage the Honda has. I've been out 5 trips sent I put it on and I've used less than a 1/4 tank of gas. That's running all over the lake. It's a huge improvement from the 250 HPDI I had.

That white would look great with some Old School Honda Wing graphics from Iguana.

That probably would be pretty cool. I may have to consider that..

Already have a pic in my "tach thread", but who doesn't like to show off their new ride? So back to this original post, here is the White Honda BF250 I've been patiently waiting for. So far very, very happy!

Congratulations! Great looking rig. I love my F225 and doubt I'll ever own anything but Honda from here out.
