I like B&M Sam Heaton 10'. Anything longer gets pretty heavy to me after a while.
I'm no expert but I like a 6' UL....

Depends on the depth of the water. Shallower the brush equals a longer rod for me. Firm believer that prop wash affect fish in shallow water at times especially heavy pressured lakes.
If you're video game fishing them use a 6' rod or a ice rod since its easier to keep your jig inside the cone of your graph up front. Being a northern angler panfishing deep basin fish to shallow brush and ice fishin I can say that using these techniques down south will help tremendously. When I go down to the ozarks I always bring my flasher and ice rods for fishing off docks around the area for craps as well.
7' or 7 1/2' for me. St Croix Avids in both cases with 20# braid and an 8 or 10# fluoro leader.
