Just went and picked up my boat. Although they didn't mention adjusting the shift cable it is clear that some adjustments were made. See above post for adjustment prior to taking to the shop.
Here is a picture pointing out the spring they were referring to.
See how it does... if that spring (pictured) were bad, there would be very little question of it.

That is a good tool to find a shop. I ended up taking it to a shop up around Lanier that had very positive reviews.
