Are there any fourstrokes in the works for bigger motors like the 150? I'd like to see 250 fourstroke like the 150 and smaller motors.

I'm sure they will be released at Miami for 2017. Since I bought a Suzuki now! Lol

Higher HP models will be released eventually, the only real question is "when".

If their performance and reliability are on par with the current 150 4-stroke, Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki will take a big hit in the off-shore market!

I still can not believe Merc has not come out with other HP configurations of their 150 as Yamaha has done with their 150 years ago.
When I was looking for a new boat I was looking at ranger and nitro both but I really wanted a fourstroke after hearing how nice they were and all the trouble I had with my 2 stroke. I would have liked a alittle bigger motor but for what I looked at I couldn't get away from the 150 fourstroke and it really is a hoss on my z18. I'll never own anything other then a fourstroke just hope they will come out with 225-250 in the future.

Anyone hear any thing new on this ? Sure would like to see a 225 but if it's just taking ex time to get it right that's not a bad thing.
Gosh, they've been riding the 150 hp FourStroke for about 4 years, and it's supposed to be a much higher horsepower motor turned down dramatically--for reliability.
Mercury as a company has almost been negligent in not coming out at least with 175 hp and 200 hp versions. There's certainly a market for an 4 stroke outboard without fly by wire and $5K superchargers.
SoI agree that I'd love to see Mercury come out with some products in this area but what's in it for them? Think of it like this. At least in my area any boat with the 200 or above is pretty much running a Pro XS so they're already selling as many as they can make. They don't really need to release a new product right now to try to gain new marketshare or hold onto the existing market share. For the moment it seems they're just milking the Cashcow

The 150 isn't a "tuned down" engine. Realistic displacement - to - HP output (for those that followed the I/O models, the 3L Mercruiser was 130-135 depending on the exact model).
In the meantime- the Verado 4-stroke lineup is still a very strong contender (especially the 4 cylinder 200).

Been running my 150 4s now for 3 years and LOVE IT but Going to a bigger boat and going to have to go to a 225 or 250
So are we to believe that Yamaha engineering is that much better to come up with 150-175-200 versions based on their 2.7 L, a much smaller block than the Merc 3 L. Or could it be they are afraid of hurting 175 and 200 Verado cash cow sales like the 150 3 L did to the 150 Verado? Where is that 150 Verado now days?
