Impressive. Making me consider a bravo 4. Now what pitch for my boat is the question...

Quick question, and I hope this doesn't hijack the thread. Supposing I'm reading correctly, you've run both the Fury (3) and Fury 4 in the same pitch...is there a difference in RPMs between them? I know that Mercury says they should run the same, but I suspect that's not true in practice.

The reason I ask is because I'm looking to re-prop soon and, based on my research and asking around, it seems like my boat will run best with a 25 Tempest Plus or a worked 25 Fury (honestly it sounds like a 24.5 Fury would be perfect if there were such a thing). In the interest of saving money on reworking a prop, if there's a minor drop off in RPMs between the Fury and Fury 4, I'm thinking I could go with a Fury 4 in a 24 and be right on the money. I'd also rather trade some top end for better hole shot, another reason I'm thinking this could be a good choice.

I'm not wanting to change the subject on this cool thread, but when you get ready to start your search for the right prop start another thread about it. I have been helping my other buddy Chris Edwards get his '95 482v with the same engine that you have set up, and it flies. We are hopefully going to play around with it some this next week, I have another prop to try on it.

    Hi KaKing
are u still running the Fury props?
Do you have a number from back of pad to lower unit nose?
With both cavitation plate and pad level.

    Thanks

In case you didn't notice, this thread is 3 years old and KaKing has sold his boat. You should probably email him through this site and he'll get back to you, he's a great guy.

Got your PM as well...my 521 is long gone, but anywhere from 1.75" to 2.5" below pad should be a sweet spot for you.

    I run a fury 24 4blade on my 16 z521c and only barely hit 65mph.
