It's sloshing around in there so I assume that's the difference in the reading. On holeshot, you can see the value rise as well (as the fuel in the tank moves around).

    Z520ci with a 250 SHO. Would you run a 25 or 26 Fury 4?

Thanks for taking the time to do this Chris. I have a 25 Fury 3, a 25 Bravo XS and was waiting on some results from someone with the same boat I have before I buy a Fury 4. You made my mind up I am going to be getting one to run.

I have a 2016 Z-520 running a 25p furry 3 blade and around 65 to 69 it starts walking like to much bow lift. Boat is very new to me and just now out of break in time. Was wondering if the 4 blade fury may help that and speeds, also what pitch would i need to run with the 4 blade fury.

If walking the engine needs to be raised. 2.5" pad to center with Fury 3 on wing master lower.

Excellent results and information all throughout. This should be very helpful for a lot of folks out there!

Quick question, and I hope this doesn't hijack the thread. Supposing I'm reading correctly, you've run both the Fury (3) and Fury 4 in the same pitch...is there a difference in RPMs between them? I know that Mercury says they should run the same, but I suspect that's not true in practice.

The reason I ask is because I'm looking to re-prop soon and, based on my research and asking around, it seems like my boat will run best with a 25 Tempest Plus or a worked 25 Fury (honestly it sounds like a 24.5 Fury would be perfect if there were such a thing). In the interest of saving money on reworking a prop, if there's a minor drop off in RPMs between the Fury and Fury 4, I'm thinking I could go with a Fury 4 in a 24 and be right on the money. I'd also rather trade some top end for better hole shot, another reason I'm thinking this could be a good choice.

The only extra factor in that is prop height below pad..it's been a few months since I ran the Fury 3 25p but I don't think I could spin it over ~5750 RPM (but that was at 3.5" below pad). With the Fury 4, I'm at 1.5" below pad and can hit 5900. So in my test, I guess I can spin it a little higher RPM (due to prop height?) than the Fury 3 in the same pitch. Fury 3 to Fury 4 is no comparison at all (on my boat with dual Talons). The Fury 3 was not very good out of the hole and VERY sluggish through mid-range, all the way to top speed. Yes, the top speed was about 1mph more (maybe), but it was a dog getting there. With the Fury 4 I'm at 65mph in no time and it pulls hard from there to 70mph.

I am certainly no boat driving or prop expert, I just do what the old guys (Pete & Roger) tell me to do. That's where the app comes in, two times a second I can see that data and dial it in accordingly. Also, you may already know this, but buy from Rothwell Marine and they'll let you swap props if it's not the right one. That's a great way to really find the one you need.

Appreciate the detailed response. I hadn't even considered that the props might "like" to be run at different heights.

When the time comes next spring to purchase I'm pretty confident I'll have access to Mercury props at a fairly deep discount, but if that doesn't pan out I'll definitely look into getting it from Rothwell. Thanks again!

My boat is a 2017 z520c, Mercury 250 Pro xs,twin poles, tournament loaded and 2 big guys. Im 6'5 300 pounds my parter is 250 pounds. First off I love the fury 3 and still do its a very good prop and faster on top than the fury 4. The fury 4 is just an awesome all around prop on this boat. Getting on plane and mid range is unreal with the fury 4 but still very quick on top. I only lost roughly 2 mph if not a touch under on top but I was still running 72 mph with with the fury 4. The handling, holeshot, mid range acceleration is phenomenal with this prop not that the fury 3 was ever bad this one in my opinion is just better on my rig! If Im gonna be making long long runs in a tournament Ill use a fury 3. But for 95 percent of the time I think its a fury 4 for me! Mercury did a fabulous job on this prop!
What pitch Fury 4 are you running. I have the same boat and would like to try a Fury 4
