Dogs.....yes.
Cats .....no They'll play with your toe tags when they haul your azz to the morgue!
You, too?
I don't think so. We adopted a dog from a local vet who had found a mama dog and her litter of 9 puppies on the side of the road. She kept one of the puppies, and he lives at the vet's office. The first time we brought our puppy back for a checkup or shots or whatever it was, the vet and I made sure that our dog, Kix, met his brother Gus. No recognition at all, it's like they'd never met, and this was after maybe only a few months. He was less than a year old at that first checkup, and he was 7-8 weeks old when he got him. We've had them together a few times since then, and they've always acted the same as the first time.
Also, my dad's dog when I was a kid had a brother that my cousins kept. Whenever those two got within 50 feet of each other, there was a fight. No ifs, ands, or buts about it....Suzy and Major had to be kept apart at all times.
Interesting.
Boy and girl fought? Dang... Unless it was a Boy Named Sue!
A few years ago we adopted two cats, they were from the same litter. One we kept and my Son and his Wife took the other. after about two years of being separated we took my sons cat in to take care of while they were on vacation. Right away they started playing and even slept together the whole time we had her. I think they remembered each other.

no I have a whore cat who has had litters from her own son, so if she does know thats her son then we have another problem
I bought my female Boykin and had her about a year when the breeder called me and asked if I wanted her brother. I went and got him, he is Gun shy but a lovable dog. They seemed to recognize each other right off the bat.
Another adorable moment in animal life brought to you by Dr. Dolittle
Glad you cleaned that up in your post Dinks.
The title kind of had me wondering there for a minute.
But, to answer the question, I've had 3 different dogs, 2 dachshunds and a Lab that I took back to the kennel where they came from. They all seemed to remember the people who bred them.
The lab knew who his mom was immediately. It was like a family reunion. Brought tears to my eyes. The dachshunds remembered the momma dog, but mine never slow down long enough for you to tell much else.

I caught five fish from the same school over the course of about 4 hours. When I opened the live well, it sure seemed like they were having a family reunion in there.
Broke my heart to cull one when I caught momma.

My brother has watched a couple of the pups that came out of his litter that he sold to friends. They all seemed to know immediately that they were siblings and their mom and dad. (Had only been about 10 months since separated).
