    Damn you! All of you!!
Putting a smaller fuel tank in wasn't even a thought, it is now. Sometimes i really hate myself for looking at these threads!!!
    I have a g3 1756 50hp 4 stroke. 21 gallon tank. Go through 2 or 3 tanks a year.
    Mine has vinyl for flooring.
Pro's - easy to clean, hooks don't get caught.
Cons - it gets warm in the sun, not as soft as carpet.

Lol, but if you do it you want be sorry
l am so back and forth. As of today, Iam going back with carpet.
The USCG requires a anti-siphoning valve on all permanent installation fuel tanks. On the portable tank I have a quick disconnect fuel connection on the tank. And I'm not using anti-siphon valve. There are different sizes of that valve, for my motor it's supposed to be 30. I will say that my motor runs much better without it. The fuel filter stays completely full all the time. And it's no restriction at all. The disconnect has a 3/8" barb. With 3/8" hose to splash well. 5/16" hose and primer bulb to the filter. The biggest plus will be less weight. And tons of more room in the bilge area. Not to mention fresh fuel anytime I want it.

Well a little progress. Waiting on new battery trays and I'll get this part done. Then on to the recarpet and new floors with new compartment layout.

Man glenn that is looking good. Like the diamond plate floor pan that will be much better. Your boat is very clean i side and in great shape. I liked getting to see inside and see how stout all the bracing looks inside too. Great project the small tank is a good idea i even have to work at burning 21 gallons with a 115 on there.

Cool pics, my dad has one of these boats and he wants to do something similar but he has to have the 21 gal tank,,, he wants to move the tank under the seats and build a little bit bigger livewell system in the back,

Could the livewell from the 195 be fitted to a 175 or 190?

I would say so, but it would depend on the length of it. The livewell I have is 22 gallons. I thought it was 19. It doesn't have the bait bucket deal though. So this year model is the same though 09 I think. Getting it with the frame and hatch should be plug and play. Maybe the cross brace and bilge hatch would have to be moved back some. With a different sized bilge hatch. But that should be the extent of it.

Well I like the room in here now. When cross member is back on. The hatch will open about right where the fill caps are on the batteries. I can enough put the charger where the factory mounting spot is. But there's enough room for a power pole pump.

Still ll have to put a strap on the fuel tank.

Nice job! Your putting thoughts in my head!!
Make sure when you put that cross member back in, that you can maintain the batteries without removing them. Will make life much easier.
I didn't think about that when I added lockers to mine.

    Thanks guys,
when the hatch is open. It will be right over the handles on the batteries. And I will be able to have a sight line almost straight down into them.

Its a 6 gal. tank. I have found a 6.5 gal that is a little narrower and longer and shorter in height. That I can actually get my sending unit in so the fuel gauge work again. Just look at how easy it is to get to the bilge and livewell pumps.

Gator you did a great job. If there ever was a first class job you did it. I can hear other minds working hard thinking about doing the same. You should have made a step by step video when you were doing the work. You could have sold it and made some cash. All you need to do now is go catch some fish and pat yourself on the back for a job well done.

Nice job Glenn.. I think all Tin boats should have the option for a tank like that..
