I'll be getting a 294XL/200 SHO shortly to setup, I'm curious what guys are getting speed wise with this setup.

73-74 typically. More is possible though. I hit 78 in my old one with an optimax.
I've hit 74 and change with an 200 E-tec HO but I have heard guys saying they hit 76 before.

Ok thanks guys, im going to be setting one up shortly. Good to know what to shoot for for numbers.
I had 72 at 6100 RPM with 6 inch hydro plate with 25 pitch vmax SHO prop. I'm going to try a 26 pitch TXP soon to hopefully get my RPMs down and speed up. This summer I tested a lot of props: 24 and 25 Tempest, 24 TXP, 24M, 25 bravo. Liked the handling of the TXP. So far I'm happy with the bravo in the swells.

Getting 71 so far with a 27 TXP....but there's more there as I haven't found the sweet spot on the prop to pad height. (2010 294 EVO with 200 HPDI). Thinking about putting my 27M back on as I haven't tried it with the 2" spacers I added to the jackplate.
I drove the boat about a month ago, 2 guys loaded to fish was 72mph. Me alone i got 76mph in really bad cond for speed running. I'm hoping with some setup time i can get 80mph out of it light.
80 won't happen. Trust me.
If you have a yamaha sho. Get the ecu flashed and reprogrammed for a 250 or 275 and hang on!!!!
Stratos 201 Pro Elite, Evinrude 200 Etec H.O., Minn Kota, Humminbird
80 is not impossible but its not going to happen with standard stock equipment...there was a 294 nicknamed Evozilla than ran into the 90's so yes 80 and beyond is possible but not with stock equipment. The overwhelming majority of 294's with 200 HP turn a prop in the 25 pitch range. Most are running low 70 and a very few that have a excellent set up and good running conditions see mid 70's.
To achieve 80 the number just do not add up...find out what your lower unit gear ratio is. Then find out your prop pitch. Google prop slip calculator and enter the numbers with the speed being 80...if your prop is a 25 pitch like a lot of 294's with 200 HP are you will have to spin your motor north of 6500 rpm to hit 80...its not going to happen with 200 HP. Now increase your horsepower so you can turn a bigger prop and yes 80 is doable.
Prop shaft height i didn't measure because we we're just going fishing. Nor will i measure it, in all honesty i never measured one in my life, i just set it up for where the boat tells me it wants the prop shaft. That day i ran 76 was with a 26 T1.
This isn't my boat, its a friends boat that wants to see how fast i can make it go.
i dont know what stratos alltrimmedout is running but he is been way up in the 90's with a 250 merc. seems as though its at least 20' long but i just cant remember what model. anybody know?
It's a 201....just like Evozilla. Having been a passenger in Evozilla...I can attest to the upper 80's. But the 294 is a different animal all together.
Also, most 294's run a 27 pitch prop to get top end....25's will only get you holeshot and on the rev limiter real fast.
I agree. A 25 or even a 26 pitch prop is too small for the 294 hull.
Flash the SHO to a 250 and Put a worked 27 txp on it. No reason why you wouldnt run in the 80s.
here is a video of my 294 running 87.6mph a couple weeks ago. 200SHO with a Simmons tune. 28P pro ET
If you are buying a used evo and want it fit speed check it over well first. Steering, helm, wheel, ect. My 294 will do 80 but personally I prefer to never go 80 in a 294. It’s a very narrow boat that requires a lot of driver input to run that speed. I run a 25 t1 now and it will run 73ish at 2.5” ptp
