    Steel?

    is it worth investing in?

    i've been in the business or a while, but not sold on it yet... would appreciate advise.

    exactly. i've looked into some...especially the one i work for. so i've been debating doing it just not sold on the market!

    Not my chart, but here is iron ore futures, which I'm sure has a bit of influence on steel companies. chart looks good to me

    Just retired from the steel industry.

    Commodity stainless and carbon Steels are going to have a very difficult time in generating income. Global over capacity of steel manufacturing has pushed the high cost manufacturers to be quite non competitive. Trade agreements will help a bit, but rust belt nations (US, UK, etc) have a serious cost problem. Anytime you have such an imbalance of high supply (producers) and low demand (customers) like we have today, it is going to be a difficult market.

    Now specialty metals have a better picture. Much less low cost competition so pricing is more favorable.

    Tread carefully. Follow the LME Nickle index to what us happening in the stainless and speciality steel world.
