Without having the serial number or year, best guess for RPM range is 5000–5800. Post your serial number for more accurate info..
Rick
thank you, the serial number is 2B366938 itīs this year.
Rick is correct I think - but the rev range is on the id sticker on the saddle bracket and also on the 'maintenance' and specification decal on the motor - on the ECU cover
Great motor - just changed from a 2008 175 optimax and whilst not quite the same hole-shot/response, am very pleased with it - quiet, powerful once planing and more economical.
Getting to the minimum is not the objective. Getting to the maximum allowable RPM, with the boat loaded, is the objective.
The motor should be able to turn at or near its red line RPM, with the boat loaded and the engine trimmed just to the most efficient trim angle, on a hot summer day, for best performance and optimum engine life.
Now you may never run at WOT ever again. But you will be correctly propped for all engine RPM.
Should there come a time when the boat is lightly loaded, or it is a cold winter day, and the motor could exceed its red line RPM, then it is the job of the operator to mind the throttle and not let that happen.
5800 is the red line RPM for the Mercury 150 four stroke.
+1... Best to prop this engine for 5700-5750, fully loaded.
