Those that know are just being respectful to Mercury. Pics and rumors flying around on the interweb would steal Mercury's thunder....

could be why the Verado is not allowed on the "L" series now, maybe the new offering at Ranger in Merc 4 strokes. If true its a motor that Vexus has on test (hearsay but reliable source)

I think you'll find this to be the case for most.

Some rigs have 125 or 130 HP ratings.

I have a very reliable source that says it's likely a Pro XS 4 stroke in the 200-250 range and possibly higher, that is lighter than an Optimax and faster in all respects to the Opti and SHO with mechanical controls...

Many things are pointed that way. I’m ready to see it. But it better be stronger than Verado. Sure it will just hoe they allowed DTS hotfoot

I get that, but the world is waiting for a large displacement high horsepower 4 stroke engine, not another midsize ...maybe a 125 in addition to others?

You better not be in any hurry if you decide to wait to repower.

If Merc is coming out with competition for the Sho, they couldn't have picked a better time with Sho's basically unavailable for a long time.

No way will a naturally aspirated 250 be stronger than a Verado. No comparison. They're 2 totally separate animals for 2 totally different markets.

Just sit back and watch Merc take even more market share away from Yamaha. We've already seen their 2.1 & 3 liter platforms flat out perform with VERY few issues. I expect these engines to do the same

And it would an easy motor to make. I’d assume it would be based on the 150 block. All you need is an intake change and a different cam and you have a 125.

If they come out with a 175 ProXS Fourstroke I am going to be in a tough spot. I’d love to have one but my Optimax is fine and I have no real justification to replace it.

I own a Verado Pro and as said if Mercury is going 4 stroke it needs to be as good or stronger than Verado. I was very happy with the Racing Optimax motors for years and then got a Verado Pro and will never look back, it’s a beast. New Motor will be too I’m sure, Mercury don’t play games. It will be good. I’m just hoping several items are in the new motor, DTS shifting/ throttle option hand or foot on shifter.

Am in the same boat (pun intended). Would be real tempting if Mercury comes out with a 175ProXS 4stroke based on the 3L block and still at 455lbs. Like you, my Optimax is fine, have no justifiable reason to replace, and no complaints.

I think the Vrod is awesome no doubt but if they made a 225 I think it would be too heavy for the 225 19' boat market. So if they come out with a new 4 stroke 150-225 lighted faster than a SHO they would kill it!!! The Vrod for 250 and up.

I'm curious as to what direction they go. My pro xs has served me very well, but I'm very interested to see what Mercury comes out with. I'm definatly interested in a 4 stroke for my next outboard.
