461vs owners - Numbers before/after a jackplate?

Hey guys, I'm curious if any of you have added a jackplate to your 461vs and have before/after thoughts.

Right now my motor is roughly 5" below the pad, and I know it needs to come up about 1.5". I'm not sure with the built in setback if a jackplate is really going to make a difference though. I can always just manually raise the motor and rebolt to the transom if there is no big improvements in handling or top end, plus I'll save $$$ on having to get my cover modified to fit after the jackplate.

Right now the boat handles great, gets out of the hole great, and I'm getting 58-59mph top end with a tournament load. I've got a 97' Yamaha VMax TRP 150 that's been swapped over to a regular lower unit, along with a 24" Tempest Plus with no plugs in it.

I have a 97 461 vs with a mariner 175efi. I added a cmc hydrolic 5.5" plate. I get 65gps by myself tourny loaded and around 62-63gps with 2 people. Turning right at 5600 rpms running a 25 trophy plus.

The boat handles a little better with the plate in choppy or rough water.

I have a 97 482vs with 175 Fitch. It will run about 63mph no jackplate.

I switched motors right after I put on the plate. My old motorJohnson fastrike 150 would get 57gps before and right around 60gps after. My biggest reason for the plate is all the shallow water I fish. It is nice to be able to raise the plate when idling around the shallows or lower it when the water gets real rough.
