We've moved all those we've had in stock but have more coming. The specs are the same as the 852c JWR, 10 - 14# line, 1/8 - 3/8 oz. lures, EXTRA Fast taper, Medium Power. If you love the feel and length of the 893 and could imagine a power less with a very similar taper, that's the 892... It fits a niche for sure.

thanks for the info, wish Gloomis site was as helpful

a niche rod indeed and likely I would have to fish it to understand its use. If it fishes more powerful then its shorter brothers then it might be nice. I'm seeing tube jigs on Dale Hollow with 10#FC

It would be be perfect for that. My buddy got it for shakey heads. It's a very nice rod and I can see multiple uses for it. I will get one soon as the wife isn't looking.

It likely I will end up with one as well. I really like the 89x platform. The hook sets on the 893 and 894 are so solid vs. the shorter versions. Will be interesting to see how the hook sets on the 892 play out. Over the years, I have gotten rid of all my 2 power casting bottom bouncers because they just don't have the hook setting power I seek in a long cast. If I don't end up with an 892, it is simply that the 893 meets all my needs.

Seems this is my 1/4oz jig rod. Got the 852c last year but can see the 892 being better suited.

I have mine paired up with a Daiwa SV103XS weighing in at 7.8 ounces. Just balancing the rod on a finger, the balance point rest right on the hook keeper. I fished it for several hours on Saturday pulling various duties with it. I felt no fatigue like is common with a tip heavy rod.

The 892 weighs approximately 122 grams...
