    I got my mount in . Haven't mounted it yet. As said its very sturdy. On the new boats according to the instructions there is a aluminum piece in the gunnel that can be drilled and tapped. On the older boats just drill and use a self tapping screw supplied . Mine didn't come with thumb screws to mount the gimbal bracket . Not real crazy about drilling holes but I do like the idea of using the rod tube.
