When I power on the keypad, I have a constant red light on the gas tank switch. No other accessories will power up. Keypad or brain dead?

Maybe both. First check the wires that go to the box. They may have wiggled lose. If not try disconnect them for a second and plug back in. Also hold the switch for 30 sec to try and reset.
after that it gets more frustration and costly. What model boat?
Thanks John
Good point
I did not think about the bow pad.Next time I am out and it mess up I'll try the functions on the bow pad. Also I'll go into the console area and make sure all connections are tight. But for clarification the start pad works as normal. The key switch is definitely on the table asap. And I'll have my dealer check out the circuit but it's hard to find leperacons and unicorns. Sounds like a brain box and pad are in order. Thanks Chris Longo

The control box is Mounties under the console. You will see the positive and ground power source wires bolted via large studs on the box. First verify that the connectors are tight and the wires are not corroded. Those wires run to the start battery with the positive side going through the circuit breaker. Verify connections are clean and tight. Verify 12V at the box under the console.
you may not have a power source problem, but corroded connections especially on the ground side can cause some funky stuff. My pad was doing some wonky things and a good cleaning at the battery terminals resolved that.
Make sure you shut off power to the keypad before checking wires. Disconnect the cranking
battery and check the plugs on the keypad and the brain box. Push them on real tight and
then reconnect battery and see if operational. I would also install a on/off switch in the
positive cable of the cranking battery. I believe that charging the batteries without the
on/off switch causes issues with the keypads. Good luck.
