I've tried to look up what knot he was tying and I can't find it. Looks like the hook sits perfectly

San Diego Jam
I would not have thought of the San Diego Jam for drop-shotting, but that is a great idea.
I just ran out to the garage and tried this. Awesome. Very easy to tie. Might re tie all my floro rigs.

If you bring the doubled line up the standing line away from hook and then wrap down you'll be happier. I used to tie it this way and learned the hard way breaking off 5-6 pounders like he did today.
I will have to try it as well
looks like the knot Zona ties he calls the porter knot.
Great video.
Praying for a Cure
Gonna give that a try.The majority of my breakoffs with a drop shot happen at the hook.

It's the only knot I will tie with FC...have been using it for the last 2-3 years. Great knot!
Thanks everyone !
So, on the drop shot knot...Is it necessary to bring the tag end/weight line, back thru the hook so hook stands straight out?
I honestly prefer the polymar knot and then run the long tag end through the hook eye one more time to make it sit perfectly...I also run a very light drag because I am using 4-6 LN test at times dropshotting for smallies. Have never had in issue with a knot breaking.
This looks like a good knot as well think I'll give it a try!

Palomar knot with fluoro is a no no.

Seems to me that the issue is more with the Palomar knot than the fluoro...although the fluoro may make it worse. A perfectly tied Palomar is great. The problem is that it is not an easy knot to tie quickly AND perfectly. Too often the double lines get crossed under the hookeye. The rest is the knot can break on the hookset as one line cuts the other. I had this happen to me several times and never thought much about it. Then, my tournament partner pointed it out and I started tying the Uniknot like he does. That was 10 years ago and I have not had the same problem since.
