    Re: Astro Boat Pictures (smalljawer)

    New astro owner

First glass boat, had a g3 before this girl.

    Paid 4600, 98 17' astro with a 115 mercury.

Had to compound/wax the shit out of it. Few years of sun poisoning. Got 98% of the haze out of the clearcoat took forever :( had a tire shift tread first trip out. Need to have the fenders painted and put um back on.

Remounted the trolling motor with real hardware (no isolator t bolts)

Remounted the seats with real brackets that adjust back and forth a few inches.

Installed the stereo properly, it and the speakers were just sitting on the floor under the console :/ seats were glued down and the hideous carpet is 2 years old. Guy went halfass on the boat from day one Ill redo that in the winter and she'll look good as new :)

Motor runs good, has a brand new lower unit/propeller. Only hits 48-49 with one person :/ something isnt quite right. Hummingbird side imaging at the console and a color/gps bird in the front with an internal transducer powerdrive.

Wow that was a flash from the past. Guess what? I'm still running that same rig over here in Georgia! About 1 1/2 years ago I had the motor overhauled by Nichols outboard engineering in Soddy Daisy, TN and she's still kicking!

Forgot that I never added updated pics. It is not one of the best looking or fastest boats, but I love the deck space, storage, and ride of this boat. At 19 ft, it feels bigger than most 21 that I've been in. Also I don't feel like lurch driving this boat because you sit down lower in it.

My 96 Astro 20b with 200 merc. NEVER had a problem with this. I have been thinking about selling it since I bought my ranger z22 but its such a good old boat its hard to get rid of.

Here is my first bass boat 1996 18DCX with a mercury XRi 150. Loving it so far, needs a bit of TLC (new carpets). Had it out last weekend 59MPH on GPS, really fun boat.

Here is my original ASTROglass before procraft.
1989 just picked it up last year. All she needed was a little TLC and she's up and running a 50mph gps.

Thanks: I would like to shine her up morebut what time I do have free I’m fishing not waxing. Did have to replace thelive well inlets, valves and pumps and remove the scotch locks and solder allthe connections. I’m still adding goodies.

    Update

Purchased the boat in 2007 and have loved every minute of owning this boat. Very stable fishing platform. I really needed a boat that rides well for by back and this Astro does the job. I will always be appreciative of my buddy for finding this boat and persuading me to make the purchase. S-20B, 200 Mercury, 14x25 Trophy plus
