    Re: Astro Boat Pictures (katyag)

boat picked up a couple mph with the jackplate. performance was better all around, but that was with a 200 efi. current motor is a 280 ros that is destined for another boat. with the 280 the best ive seen is 83.6 gps. still have some more props to try, just havent the time lately. gotta find it though the santee rally is coming up quick! mt

I came across this forum today and noticed that there wasn't any Quickfires posted. Here's my 93 F-18 that I call "Joe Dirt". Great boat, fishes fantastic runs like a raped ape just needs new carpet and seats. But the fish don't care!

What are your numbers on the F-18? Are you running a 150 or 175? Always loved the look of them. They look fast even on the trailer.

    Re: Astro Boat Pictures (mercury97)

Thanks for the compliment Merc97. Ever since I saw Bill Dances Procraft in the mid 90's I wanted one. I came across this one used, after my brand new Astro FSX18 was totaled.

I have a 175 EFI with a 24 pitch large hub Trophy that's been played with.
I have run 71mph GPS fully loaded with a partner and his tackle and all the holes open in the prop. But it didn't like getting out of the hole that way. I have since added another battery (carry 4) and plugged two of the holes on the prop and lowered the jack plate ¼" So on a good day I'm running 66mph with both fuel tanks only ½ full.

If I was to lose the backseater and all his tackle I'm sure it would get back to 70 again.

Here's my Astro, 1997 Astro 2000, 200 Mariner Mag EFI, 10" Rite Hite Jackplate, Hot Foot, Lowrance X87 on the Dash and X75 on the T-motor, MG 757 12-24 Foot controlled T/M. I've had her since Oct 1999 and have had "Zero" complaints! Never been in the shop, routine maintenance, great running, great riding rig.

Thanks, Guys. I love that rig! She's been extremely dependable and ready to go whenever I am and that's usually at least once a week often times a lot more, 12 months a year!.

    Re: Astro Boat Pictures (bass-action)

It is an 1800. It has taken me over a year to get it set up. I still have some tweaking to do. Best #'s yet is 67.9 gps at 5600 rpms with an unworked 25 tempest plus. I am about to put on a set of cut heads to bump compression, go up more with the jackplate and send my tempest to mark and let him work his magic so I can finally hit the 70 mph mark!!
