2014 Pro Xs 150 on Z118 Ranger prop pitch

    Hello, I'm running a 2014 Mercury Pro Xs on my 2014 Ranger Z118 (18'6")

When I'm running wide open throttle I'm around 5300 PRM and 58-60 mph but it takes a long time to get there. I fish small water lakes with very tight turns and it take my boat a while to recover from those turns and get back into its true power band. It came with a fury 23 pitch 3 blade, but I almost believe that the pitch is too high and that I may need to go down to a tempest 21.

Could you give me some insight on that?

    Thank you!

what are the max rpms for that engine ?

    5300 sounds low on rpms.
a 22 tempest or even bravo 1 may be better

The Fury is not made in a 23P, 24P is the lowest and it turns like a 25P tempest plus. .... You are over propped. You need a 23P tempest plus for top end, Or a 22P Bravo1 for the best fishing prop. Great holeshot.

I could be mistaken. I may be running a 23p tempest then. I will double check. I'm almost certain that I'm running a 23p though.
Thank you very much! I will reply when I figure out what I have.

Yes sir, I'm running an 8 inch manual slide master. I should have included that info.

Drop down 1" pitch and check your prop to pad height. You may need to raise it up a little. http://www.bbcboards.net/showthread.php?t=62660

I double checked today and I was wrong. I'm running a 23p tempest plus. I think dropped one inch on pitch would be better suited for the lakes I fish on. They have very tight turns.
