Mine is a 150 Pro XS. So not a 3L but had the same issue as well. Just over 60 hours and I got lucky and it was backordered from Mercury. Just got it back last night about a month for the part to come in. Not complaining just stating. Maybe they are aware and are using up old stock to new ones or it is just that big of problem that they can't keep them in. Not even sure if the 2.5 and 3l use the same pump. But it was the same location for the leak.

When I called around I was quoted from $50 to $250, just depends on the dealer!

NOBODY LIKES BEING RAPED for a repair over $700.00 that a o ring would fix.

I thought these oil pumps were not serviceable. Are people taking a risk opening the pump to install new o-rings?

Yes, there are a few guinea pigs out there risking a $12-15K motor over $700. I guess they think it is worth it. If you do too, then by all means go ahead!

Now remember this is a leak repair only and this is for information only, if your pump is bad the O-Ring will not fix your pump. Apply blue lock-tite to the 3 SHCS holding the metal cover over the electrical coil that retains the actuator plunger plate against the O-Ring seal.
I'm not responsible for any-other problems like blown engines due to oil pump failures. You are on your own if you try this O-Ring fix and it does not work..
Use your dealer for purging the oil pump before running the engine
    Good read there .

I had thought my oil pump was leaking also, but my mechanic traced it down to a leaking oil line at one of the brass check valves. Oil was running down the line and the pump is basically the lowest point and had a drip on bottom of pump. fixed oil lines and no more leak. Maybe I was a lucky one.

Just checked and mine is leaking too. I have a feeling this is not a huge concern as I am certain this has been like this for a long time. As long as the pump is working it may be alright to have a leaky one. Any comments?

    Only one.......

How many RPM's will the motor be turning when the oil leak starts to leak at a higher volume, thus starving the life blood of the motor? If you know the answer, then tell me what the WINNING POWER BAll numbers are for the next drawing.........Also what will the final score be in this years SUPER BOWL?

    Thanks for your help!

Is the pump covered under platinum or just factory warranty? Dealer ordered a new pump for mine 2 weeks ago and it's still not come in. Factory warranty is very close to being out.

Platinum is pretty much identical to factory except for the $25 deductible you have to pay. But if you are in the shop before the warranty runs out, you will be covered no matter how long it takes for them to get the part in.
