    RT188 Console Balzout Mount

If anyone is interested, thought I would share what a RT188 console mounted Balzout mount looked like with a Helix 10. I had the Ram Swing Arm mounted on the flat surface beside the console and always was in the way when I would lay my crappie poles down beside the console. So I decided to install a Balzout mount on the side of the console and free up the space so that I could store the long crappie poles down the side by the console.

That looks really good. Mine sits at the same place but I came up from the carpeted shelf with a long arm Balzout mount. Can't tell from the picture but did you have to shape a spacer under the mount to fit the curvature of the console side?

I really like the clean lines of the Helix models. I am running 1199's and really like the machines, but the giant gimbal with knobs sticking off the sides are ugly compared to the Helix.

Skeeterbait, I took a piece of rubber and formed it to fit the side of the console, I then cut a piece of plywood and mounted that to the underside of the console, Used SS hardware to fasten mount to console. Rock Solid, and I sure do enjoy the space that it has provided under the mount for crappie poles.

Also interested in which mount you used and where you got the black plastic piece. Looks awesome great work.

I did the same mount as SE66 on my Helix 10. I bought the 6 in arm and the bullet base. He used the round base. The bullet base is a rectangle and in my opinion easier to mount to the slope of the console.

That looks great, I am thinking of something similar to mount a Helix 10 on a 198P. What type and where did you get the rubber to make the spacer?

Mine is mounted on a 198. I just used some rubber gasket from Lowes. Basically anything thick enough to give more uniform compression. I also cut a piece of 1/2 plywood to put under the console for added surface area support.

That chunk of rubber looks eerily like a hockey puck... which would actually work quite well for that application I'd imagine!

Thanks I think I will give that a try. What size mount did you use?
