Razor 4 XL: what a prop!

Have had a Razor 4 XL (Croxton) on my 250 H.O. all season, and I am still amazed what a job it does in all respects. The past couple of weeks, I've been fishing quite a bit on the big water of Erie. On my Z520, this prop is like a rocket out of the hole, even with the live wells filled, provides super acceleration at all speeds, and never slips or blows out. On the weekends, between Kelley's Island and the mainland is like a washing machine, but it's a piece of cake for the Razor 4 XL. Running 2.5 inches prop to pad, never have to lower it and the lift is amazing. Just loving this prop.

I agree 100%! I'm loving mine too. Best money I've ever spent on my boat.

I'm running the 24 pitch. This prop runs about 2 pitches strong. Tried a 26, as many others have done, and could not get it to spool up on the low end to suit me. The 24 is a rocket, and I turn it right at the top end of my rpm range (6000). That is, I would turn it 6000 pretty much exactly if I wrung that last bit out of it--but I don't.

What speed are you seeing out of that prop?

I'm the wrong guy to ask that question, as I have run it all season and never had it maxed out. But I have seen 70.6 and had significant throttle left. That was at 5600 rpm. I'm confident it will run at least 73 mph on my Z520, and I have every storage box crammed. Some of those Plano boxes full of plastics in the front center box must weigh 20 pounds each. Very strong bow lift, and I can feel the stern lift as well. Running attitude in the water is excellent.

Can anyone compare how the bravo xs1 with 8 vent holes compares to mark's 4L? I too have a z520 with a 2011 etec 250 hp.

    thanks,

I had a new Bravo 1 XS 25.5 pitch on my boat last spring. Like the Razor 4XL, it had amazing low end and grip on the water, but unlike the Razor 4XL, it would not lift the bow of my boat. Was a full 10 mph slower on top end. Obviously, lots of people run the Bravo props and love them, but it did not work for me.

I know on my boat I ran a Bravo 26p and I like the 24p Razor 4 XL better I think the Bravo may have been a tad faster out of the hole but once on pad the Razor will blow it away.

Still relevant, I like mine. Little more lift than a Fury 3 even on a 200.

I just drove my Razor 4XL 25 on my 250 SHO for the first time this past weekend. Great prop but about 4mph slow.

Did you try raising the motor? These propellers can run higher than many others. .

I figured out the hub kit and ran the 24XL on my Etec 250 this weekend. What a prop! I was afraid to open it up too much with my water pressure gauge busted, but it got on plane quick and provided a smooth ride.

Raised the Atlas up to 13 and was scared to go any higher after slinging a blade on my Bravo a month ago (probably from running it too high).

Love the ride of the Razor, but wish it was a little faster. Might run it up a little higher next time and see what she does.

Set ptp to 3.5 below should be safe on water pressure
