    Hole shot

I have a 2011 z8 with 250. When I blast off the boat seems like it spools first before it takes off. Is this normal? Just seems a bit weird to me as I don't think the hole shot is that great. Has anyone tried a foil or anything. Also I do have 2 12' talons and atlas jack plate, prop is 27 bravo xs. Thanks for any advice.

I believe they are mounted as high as possible, so I don't think it's that. And I do have a plate on bottom of jackplate so that's not catching water

Are all 8 PVS holes on the Bravo XS open or do you have some of them plugged.

I have a 25p Tempest Plus on my Z8/250. It has 10" manual JP, 3 batteries and two 12' Talons. If the live wells are empty it comes up on plane pretty fast, maybe 3-4 seconds. With live wells full it takes a lot longer, maybe 6-8 seconds and bow rises a lot. If I start the boat moving forward before I throttle it, it gets on plane faster. When I first put the Talons on the boat I left off the splash guard plates on the bottom of the talons and they caught a lot of water when I tried getting on plane. It seemed to help a lot after I put the splash guard plates on.

Well maybe mines not as horrible as I thought, sounds like mine acts the same as yours or fairly close anyway, I do have the 4rth battery as well. But is that normal when you hit it it almost wants to dig till it hits a certain rpm and then go? Have you ever tried a foil? Or what are your thoughts on them? Thanks for the help.

I had a Whale Tail foil on a SF175 Skeeter with a 150 Johnson. It worked very well in getting the Skeeter on plane. It just popped out of the hole almost immediately without using hardly any throttle at all. Also it allowed the boat to stay on plane at very slow speeds and prevented the boat from porpoising. The only problem with the Whale Tail is that it knocked some speed off the top end and it would bump into tree stumps a lot. The Whale Tail was a very wide foil.

I had the whale tail on a 96' 884 savage nitro with a 150 merc, which also helped on the hole shot, it never compared to the newer skeeters hole shot. But they couldn't touch me top end, so I don't think it effected top end speed for me. I found one on bbc called cbaileys which is a nice looking one , but i want to make sure it's proven for the price their asking

The Bravo hesitates a second before grabbing. I think they all do it. Like a short bog before taking off.

I've noticed the same problem as Texasfisher, after installing my (2) 12' Talons, my 25P Tempest Plus had 3 large plugs in it, I took one plug out and the boat planes real nice at 3900 rpm, then fished a tourney Sunday with
my partner 165lbs empty live wells no problem. Once we filled the live wells at 32gallons (I believe) 8-9 seconds to plane at 3400 rpm :( I'll take out another plug and try it, but I'm wondering how that will effect my
lite loads without gear and empty live well? Anyone?

It sounds as if your ventilation needs adjustment. What is your current PVS configuration...holes open...holes plugged...solid,small or large plugs.

It doesnt matter how many holes are open or plugged.... What matters is that you see 3500-4000 rpms on holeshot. Open and close plugs to get there. Controled slip is good for holeshot. Too much venting can make a holeshot slower. Every boat/motor etc benefits from different venting.

Thanks for all the info, after the videos and results from others I don't think mine is as bad as I thought. Thanks again
