    Question Talon Alarm Connection

Have installed two 10ft Talons on my boat. I have not hooked up the alarm cable for fear of connecting to the wrong side of the ignition switch. I have a 2015 Merc 250 ProXS. Anyone know what wire color is the correct wire??? Thanks in advance.

I went a little different route, but I'm not sure if your boat is wired the same. Since my gauges only come on once the key is turned, I tapped into the power wire on one of them. Sorry, I don't remember which one. It seemed to do the trick just fine.

On the merc's you can tap into the purple wire in the harness that runs to your motor, you can get to it in the back compartment where the harness goes into the rigging tube.

Ditto on the light power on gauges. Mine come on with the key as well. Crimp connector on loosen power wire nut and tighten 5 mins or less

Take the cowl off, on the starboard side you'll see a purple wire with a bullet connection that is plugged. You can pick up 12V with key on in that location.

I know he alarm is a nice feature, except even with both connected, I can't hear them once the motor is running. I wonder if there is a way to add a dash light when the alarm sounds?

Jerzia. I'm sure you could tap/parallel off the same alarm circuit for a 12v light on your dash.Unless of course it's internal to the Talon's circuit board? Might be a question for MinnKota tech svc.

So there is really no concern cutting that purple wire near the rigging tube and splicing in the lead or leads from the Talon(s) with a good connector, probably a water proof one?

You can get a set of bullet connectors at any local auto supply house cut the needed male or female end run your wire through the rigging tube and connect the two green alarm wires, I ran green all the way to the purple and then I used a label maker to mark it for identification for service reasons.

No need to cut the wire.. I just used a T-Tap connector like this one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/100-Red-22-1...sAAMXQrhdTT-yc

Hook it up to the purple wire on the starboard side aka right side of your pro xs under the cowling using a male bullet connector the wire your looking for is toward the front of your motor coming off the harness.

Does the Talon have a built in alarm or is it the motor alarm that sounds.
