    98 viper coral 202 restoration

I am starting the restoration on my 21' Coral. My goal is to make it more fishing friendly, and more of a multispecies fishing boat. The goal is to also make it look new again, or as close as possible. I took off the fish and ski windshield, the front deck padding, and am currently fixing gelcoat cracks and spiderweb cracks. Here are a few pics so far. Ignore the camera timestamps, as i never set the date.

I took the front deck pads off and found lots of blisters underneath in spots, so had to take it clear down to glass! The plan is to fill in the holes and re-gelcoat them.

WOW! Very nice work! Love the color of your Coral. You going to install bubble windscreens in place of the full windshield?

Thanks for the compliment. Yes it is going to get bubble windscreens, although i am debating on wether of not i am going to modify the design of the consoles. I am working on a cardboard mockup right now to see if its going to look any good or not. I really want to be able to have my helix 10 mounted in the dash, and to update the design a bit.

I used pro-marine waxed white gelcoat with fumed silica for thickener to fill, and then went over it with 4 coats of unthickned gelcoat. With each coat you extend it out a little further to blend with the old gelcoat.

I forgot to mention that this gelcoat matches perfectly, with no tinting, on the white that viper used from the factory.

I got all the gelcoat repairs made, then started on multiple stage wetsanding of the whole boat. Then started the multi stage buffing with Meguairs medium cut, then went to fine cut. After that i used pro-tec nupaint moisturizer, and sealed it with pro-tec clear coat sealer. I also got the rubrail re-attached and new red 1/2" air brake hose for the rub rail insert. Also i got the new coral decals on today. Now ive got to start on the interior next. Then led's, repaint trailer, etc. etc.. Seems like it will never end!

Air Hose looks great in the rub rail. Do you mind posting or PMing me where you got it? Everywhere I found has writing circumferentially around the hose.

    Great job!

For you guys looking for the air brake hose, this is the link. http://www.ryderfleetproducts.com/te...m-p-ttm-192805
They have different sizes, mine took 1/2" od., and the writing on it is all in a straight line, so you just turn it to the back side as you insert it into the rail.
