Live well drain...Open/closed should not control water coming in. It is strictly for when boat is on trailer, so you can empty the well.

Is there a way to keep water from entering the live well?
I fish some salt water areas and do not want water to enter the live well as use ice to hold fish
You can close the livewell drain prior to putting the boat in the water and that will keep water from back-filling into the livewell. That being said, there is occasionally some seepage through the livewell drain valve.
Close the drain by moving switch under throttle control to close?
Or another way to close?

Correct, the Aerate switch turns the pump on that pulls water from the outside and fills the livewell.
