RT 188 TAIL LIGHTS

Had a sealed tail light burn out. Anybody put L.E.D. lights on. Order from Ranger? Thanks.

Yes, Iput on LED sealed lights and they came from Ranger Parts. I also believe they are a standard type mount and could probably be bought elsewhere. One of the best things I did. I had a lot of bulb blowouts on the old lights.

I think I did a thread about it maybe a year or so back with pictures.

Talk about coincidence, I also had the passenger side burn out this past weekend. I put on Optronics LED's for both sides and the lower bar. Interesting way the marker lights are mounted. They used a pop rivet of sorts. For being a top of the line boat, you would have thought they would have put LED lights all around the trailer.

Replaced mine with leds after a few burnouts. Think I got them from Walmart, and I've been happy with them so far. I really few this should be standard on these boats

Don't have a RT 188 but I didn't even wait for a bulb to burn out. It was the very first mod on my new rig. I also went with optronics led lights. 2 1/2 years now and no problems at all.

Be sure it's the light?!! I thought I had a burnout three weeks in on the passenger side, turned out to be a loose ground wire! Put a new one in and nothing so I started wiggling wires and sure enough.

I've had 2 lights burn out on my rt. I just keep taking it back to the dealer and they replace them for free. Might as well use the warranty until it's over. Eventually, I will put leds on it.

Just check at your local parts stores for trailer light kits; there's nothing unique about Ranger's lights.

BUT... Make sure that any light kit you buy is submersible. There are a lot of light kits out there for trailers but not all are meant for boat trailers.

This is is a thread with a picture where I changed mine back a couple of years ago. The reason I am doing this is that I think they changed the design in 2015-2016 and went from a square light like this one to an oval that was recessed into the fender step area. But I have not had one problem out of the LEDs.

Called dealer yesterday, 2 LED lights delivered today. Everything good again. No reason Ranger didn't use LED originally, only 15.00 a piece. 2015 boat.

Oval lights popped right in flush.

Did you pop it out from the back side or the front on the RT188 trailer.

Used a flat screw driver and inched it out away from boat. Lot harder getting out than putting back in. Optronics light available all over, nothing special.

None of those are going to work on a 2016 RT I don't think. These are not only oval and extend out of a cutout in the fender but they are also convex across the lens. The side lights are a separate red marker light.
