    SUSKY SNAKEHEADS

So I hear that Snakeheads are being caught in numbers and size on the Lower Susquehanna now.....So much so that DNR is conducting a survey to determine the nature of the present population. SO....who is catching them?? Anyone?

Caught one at Port Deposit fishing pier this morning. Hit a small inline spinner dressed with night crawler. 16" or so. Full to overflowing with eggs. Mommy and her little ones are resting comfortably in our freezer!

I've caught a couple in the susky marinas and seen several more in various places on the Bay in the past couple years. I figured everyone knew already...

On another board I saw a report of someone catching a bunch in the Elk last week. About 2-3 years ago I saw what I thought was a large one in a grass bed in the elk while crabbing.

I seam to get one or at least one cut off at least once per trip in the Susqy area. But last week near Anchor Marina I got a tap, set the hook, and instant cut off. I guess they're getting all around.

Was fishing white crystal marina in the spring last year and saw 10 to 12 of them laying just below the surface under the docks in there all 12 to 18 inches long. There is plenty of them out there.

They are spread out all over now. I've got into them on the Flats a few times this year. Had a monster miss my jig as I was pulling it out of the water in a marina on the north east last month.

There was mamma protecting her pod of babies today in the HdG American Legion docks. Hes took my jig, so I tried to get her with a spinner bait. She hit and I missed her. Then she took her babies out of sight. If one of you guys get her please return my jig.

I've found a backwater area in one of the rivers that I've caught a good bit of smaller snakeheads in the past and recently that same area has been absolutely loaded with big bass. I'm thinking the big ones are liking the new food source.

Gunpowder is loaded with them. I've caught 13 in the past week out of the 6 mph zone at mariner point.
