    Okemah Lake?

Anyone ever fished Okemah lake? I guess I'm on a mission to explore lakes in between OKC and Tulsa as it allows for me to still fish with my best bud after moving last summer. I'm reading that it use to be known as a big bass lake. Anyone have any insight they could share? Thx friends

Okemah, too me, is onof the best fisheries in the state. Pick a presentation you like to fish and don't put it down. Tons, and I seriously mean tons of fish 2.5-5lbs. Quite a few 5lb+ fish too. Weighed 24 with four last year. Definitely an awesome lake

My favorite lake to fish! I am usually there at least once a week and sometimes more. Like josh said, lots of 3-5 pound fish.

Very good lake, but can be stingy at times!

It's actually fishing different this year than in the past. The grass hasn't come in after the flood last year like it has in the past. There is still grass just not nearly as much.

I hate to admit it but I fished that lake one time and didn't even get a bump. It was early summer and I'm sure I was fishing too shallow...a bad habit of mine. I've always wanted to go back but never have.
    Don't worry Ma'am....
    I'm only here for the
    Bass.

I don't think you can fish too shallow on that lake. I took a lot of money in the old opens fishing grass in the middle of the summer. Just have to be patient. The off shore bite is the ticket to win most of the times once the water blows by 80* though

Last week the bite was still pretty good offshore. Friend of mine had 4 fish for 17.88 last Saturday in a tournament there and did not win.

Gonna head that way this weekend. Anybody got any suggestions? I've never been before and all I know is that there is a new and old part.

It's September. That means tough fishing. Period. I would think one would have good odds on that lake as to others. Everywhere else the fish seem scattered and suspended. Don't pass up what docks are there. You will get bit of you fish them, new or old lake.

Honestly, if I was looking for a few big bites, I'd pick up a buzzbaits and not put it down. I did the same thing last sat and had one around 7 and another around 4.

Okemah is a nice lake. Usually takes 19lbs (4 fish limit) to win a tourney there. Lots of grass in the old lake & lots of points & flats to fish. Fun lake to fish.
