G force eliminator prop nut on minn Kota.

I have the g force eliminator prop nut. Installing on a minn Kota 80 fortrex. The stock min Kota setup has a nut then a washer then the prop. On the eliminator prop nut do I still use the washer?

    Thanks!

Nope there is no need for it. The new prop nut hold the prop on the outside.

Has anyone ever broken a pin off before? I've been through at least 10-12 trolling motors on pirouges and boats over the years and can't remember ever breaking one. Just curious.

For those that have this prop nut, are they actually worth it?

This has been brought up before and it is a valid question.
If your in a situation of must have, then carrying a spare prop with a pin is required for you anyways.
There is a gap between the prop and the prop shaft. Should you break the pin on a plastic prop (prop would most likely be damaged or break first), the tension on the nut would be released, allowing you to remove it.
If the tension is not released, carrying a utility knife and a good pair of needle nose pliers would solve the problem. Cut a notch in the side of the prop to get pliers in to hold shaft. More than likely if you shear a pin the prop is shot also.

I did shear a pin one time on the old 55# MK All Terrain on my first tin boat. It was a rookie mistake at the loading ramp...reaching over the bow to clip the bow strap on and hit the TM pedal with the prop inches from my face. The TM prop dug into the rubber mat on the bow and gouged it up pretty good. It was a real chore just getting prop off with the pin jammed in there. There was a lot of punching and pulling just to get the bad pin out of the hole. I'm sure there's a tool to get it out but I didn't have one. Hard job in the driveway...I would hate to have to do it out on the water.
    Don't worry Ma'am....

Just stick the ends of your needle nose pliars in two of the little holes in the prop nut and twist 'er off.

Yep I dont have one of these, but that was my first thought, just use the spanner holes I see in the pic of the nut and take it off. or grab onto the straight knurl on the od?

This... Works like a charm. Use the smaller size like for oil filters on 4 cylinder engines.
No one can be wrong that often so it has to be deliberate.

Reverse polarity on the motor and grab the nut with a big pipe wrench.

You can grab the nut any way you like, the problem people are asking about is how to keep the TM shaft from just spinning when you twist if the shear pin is broken. Ive never had one so maybe they come off easier than people think just like you are saying.

That is the best potential solution i have seen yet (*Edit: brain fart, prob not going to work as shaft is still going to spin )

I dont run a G-Force nut, but can see the issues and like finding/knowing solutions to problems haha
