I went yesterday (3/19/17) to Arbuckle and had very mild success. I didn't get to spend much time on the water either plus it being a weekend and was fishing with about 10 other boats in similar areas. I did manage to pick up a decent smallmouth on a perch colored swim bait (Keitech) on the western main lake point entering rock creek. At the main lake point I found the water temp to be 58. Decided to go to the back of rock creek since the water temp was higher than I expected. Entering the very back of rock creek I found the water temp to be 64 in spots. I also found about 10 other boats haha. I knew that they were bed fishing so I started looking along the shallows and saw a good amount of fish. Saw a couple 5-6#+ fish running in pairs in the flooded grass and along the edges. Just couldn't get them to bite anything! I'm sure I was about the 100th person to try that day....... So frustrating knowing that they are there and seeing them. Water is very clear in the main lake and stained to murky in the back of the creeks.

Went Sat to Gibson and found 59.8 water by 4 or so.
Few Jetskiers and boats pulling tubes,
put a few in the boat with a 4 or so being the biggest..
All the fish came on a red/orange Bomber crankbait..

Wow man, that's a great haul! Too bad Sardis is so far away. My daughter would kill two kittens to pull a stringer like that! LOL!

Fished Gibson today for a few hours. Water was 67-69. Seems like it cooled off a bit with the recent rains. I couldn't figure them out, only caught a few small ones.

The big news is the snakes! Damn, they were thick. I've never seen them like that. Several wanted to get in the boat. Most were just water snakes but there were a few Moccasins in the mix. One BIG ASS Moccasin didn't want me to retrieve a snagged Chatterbait from his area but he finally swam off and I prevailed. Another few seconds and he would have won the standoff...nasty son of a bitch.

Guess the rains have them on the move. Use caution...

Eww! This made my skin crawl. I always carry a small BB pistol in the boat just in case. Once we pulled up by some rocks and one of the kids casted up in the middle of them (of course) and got hung up. When I motored over there to unhang him, then her, as I stepped out on to the rock a 2 footer moved RIGHT UNDER WHERE MY FOOT WAS HEADING!!!!

I jerked my foot back and just about flew back into the boat. Then I patted the little fella on the head with my oar. Little bastard! Then I looked up and noticed the entire rock pile was wriggling with snakes. Those lures are still there AFAIK.

From that point on I carry the BB gun.

Mike, you looking for WillySteve? He's still kicking ass and catching fish last I heard from him. I fished with him last Monday for a few hours before we got scared off of Sardis by thunderstorms. I plan to go back soon.
Hell of a nice guy that WillySteve!!!

That's a good idea. I was down there for the first time at the end of February with a few guys from OKC. We did pretty well and talked about going back next year. We'll definitely have to put something together. I'll get your number from Buddy.

I went with WillySteve last week hoping to learn the lake a bit (it's a little scary), but like I said we got chased off by the weather. I want to go back soon.

Hey Mike.....Where have you been Amigo!!!
Fishing has been darn good in general here this Spring. Seems every 3-4 days it gets above average, then they fall back to playing Hard-to-Get!!!

Monday of last week Rich and I were struggling and then both Thurs & Friday Greg Wilson, his pardner Mike and I boated 16-18 both days!! No giants but solid 4-5.5 pounders with top 5 both days about 20#

    A RALLY Sounds interesting!!

Fished Okmulgee Saturday from about 9 until 2. Water temp was 64 to 67. Bite was slow but did catch 5 on thx rigged brush hogs near the grass. 3 were decent in the 3 to 4 pound range, another was 15" and had one dink. Weather was beautiful. A lot of nice bass rigs on the lake. You have to pay 2 bucks to launch there now. Thx everyone
