    Question HDS12 suncover?

    Can anyone say for certain that the plastic suncover for an HDS12 gen2 will fit a gen3?

    Not so Fast :)))) The answer is NO...The two covers are different. I have one of each on my desk. The GEN 2 cover will slide over the unit BUT it will not fit on it properly and will not snap into place...and I think the ribs inside are an issue as well. Side by side on a GEN 3....only the Gen 3 cover fits properly...The Gen 2 has a 2880 number inside and Gen 3 shows 3244 Pt number 072-3244-000

    I never noticed. It seems tight. I use a small bungee cord anyway to make sure cover stays on.

    I got my HDS 12 Gen 3 as an upgrade by Lowrance after my Gen 2 had a problem. They did not send me a suncover. Should I contact them to get a cover since they are not the same?

    Not Tommy, but that is what I had to do. They resisted at first, but finally gave in.

    Sorry but I can't really answer that, it is totally your call. I just answered the question of them being the same or not.

    I have a gen 2 12, gen 3 12, and a carbon 12. I have swapped covers around and I have no idea which one goes to which. I have never had an issue with the covers not being secure while traveling. Not saying they do not have differences, but I surely can not tell.

    *UPDATE* I was curious enough to take all 3 covers and measure. 2 of the 3 are identical and 1 is slightly smaller than the other 2. I have no idea which is which, because I take them all off and go in the same compartment. I’m sure they are mixed up by now. I played with them all just now and the smallest one does seem to be a tighter fit on the Carbon and Gen 3. Like the guy above mentioned, the one that is slightly smaller is probably for the Gen 2
