Drove it for the first time yesterday got ~60mph out of it.
Guys if you can throw some tips at me on what the best rig up would be for it, i cant let my buddy in his 01 champion 193 and a 01 200 merc blow me out the water anymore.
send me an email at ballplayer9009@yahoo.com
I have a 2008 901 200hp 3.0 Opti max 10" manual jackplate 25p Tempest(needs to be reconditioned, nicked up a bit) and the best I've gotten out of her so far on a super flat day air temp in the low 70's was 65.4mph gps. I'd say give a 25p Tempest a try.

and my last tip to share with you is don't brag about how fast your boat is, but you can brag about how dry the ride is and how smooth it is in rough water...

See you have a 901, my boat is without a hotfoot, just to make sure, how long of a throttle cable do i need?

I am running a new to me 2005 929 with Mercury pro xs 225 with 10" hydraulic jack plate and i am only seeing 5400-5500 rpm at wot. 25 pitch tempest. 65.1 mph gps. I raise my plate some and if i start to see spray my alarm goes off for water pressure. Any ideas? Whats the point of having hydraulic plate if i cant even jack it up when running shallow or for performance ?
i also think my rpms are low. I used to see. 6,000 easily with my 04 optimax on my 19ft Champ and it blew a huge rooster tail wot

sorry just saw the post: I am not sure about the hot foot cable, my mech took care of that for me, I am sure there must be a standard length based on each boat application...

I have the exact same setup as Bassncrazy with a 10in Atlas plate, just took her out today for the first time and got similar results. Loving the Z-8. Great ride!

Guys I have a 2003 Nitro 901CDX w/ 2007 200merc optimax --- buzzer goes off at 5800rpm and 61-62 mph..... oil pressure is good, water pressure is good and I have no idea what is going on. And for the first time the mercury people sucked, all they told me was that its something to do with the boat..... WTF??? can anyone shed some light on this for me???

I believe that engine has max rpm of 5750 so an alarm at 5800 sounds right. I have the same boat 2009 with 200 opti and at around max rpm I'm getting about 64mph max. 4 blade 26p. I don't think you are far off from max speed on your boat. Does it have a jack plate? What prop you running? Have far above or below pad are you. Is your rooster tail above your motor? More info needed. After more info more recommendations can be suggested.

24p 4-blade prop that was on it when I bought the boat. I have 10" manual jack plate, not sure how far from the pad I am and no my rooster tail is below the top of the motor. Can the max rpms be adjusted?? my buddy has a '99 200 EFI that has max rpm of 6200.

No you can not adjust the rpm. That prop seems small. Go upto a 25p and that should be just right. this vid will show you how to adjust your jack plate and get the engine height.

Make sure you have enough water pressure. WOT should be around 18psi I would try around 3" below pad and adjust up or down from there. It's a process that takes time. Move a 1/4" at a time. Then test run again.

I appreciate the help, talked to a prop guy down here and he said he would go to a 25p tempest plus 3 blade, my water pressure WOT is at about 22psi right now.

LD17, turns out my uncle did not care about the motor being set correctly, luckily when I bought it the motor only had 32hrs on it. My prop shaft is 5" below pad. Leveled the boat and the pad was 16" high, leveled the motor and the prop shaft was 11" high.Cant wait to get my 25p 3-blade Tempest Plus, get the motor up 2” and see what this thing will do.

yes mine was also 5" below before i adjusted it. I'm still testing props. I have a friend that is going to let me try a 26p fury. I'll post results.once the ice leaves the lakes in my area.
