    Z-7, 8, 9 Center Seat Mod Version 2

Okay I knew Mark was doing his one way, but you know we all have wild ideas. So here is my version. Still in the prototype stage, but it worked pretty well for my partner last weekend for four days fishing.

    It consists of:
    12 x 24 Diamond Plate Aluminum
    2 pcs - 0.220" thick Plexiglass
    1/2" Aluminum Plywood Trim
2 - Hinges with removable pins (Matched the existing hole centers)
    Stainless screws

Would you not have the same problem with that design though. Doesn't matter it just looks cool.

Re: Z-7 Center Seat Mod Version 2 (BMCD)

No it won't flip because the edge is back from the front, trust me I tried to see if it would. And it does bring some bling. I am thinking about mounting another piece of diamond plate on the vertical surface or maybe selling advertising space for all my future sponsors that like people who can catch little fish all day long!

Looks good. A different way to skin the same cat.

I had people suggest that, but I didn't want any more glare inside the boat.

I also didn't see a real need to be getting at that fuel sender on a regular basis.

Hmmm, I had not thought of that. Could be somewhat uncomfortable.

It was a little too much bling in the sun. It may get anodized later. I needed it for this past weekend, so for a few hours of wondering around Lowes and putting it together it was worth it.

Mark you at least gave me the nerve to start tearing my boat apart within a month of bringing it home! Thanks for that.

    That's looks really cool!!!!
I took out the center seat out of my 901 cdx and when I have a 3rd person in the boat, I use the throw cushion for them to sit on. works great! So now u got 2 uses out of the cushion, 1 a seat cushion and 2nd it is right there for in case of emergency plus if the fish cop stops u, he will see that the throw cushion is ready for any emergency. (bonus point).

That inspired me to do my Z-7. Easier to get at livewells and easier & quicker for net man. Seat can go back in if needed used only existing holes.

Re: Z-7 Center Seat Mod Version 2 (Shakey Head1)

Nice job there Shakey Head. What did you use for materials? I have mine back out and tore up again! I am redoing it so I can re-mount the seat without removing the step. On my 2008, the middle seat was hinged, on TRCM's it was attached to the two spots on the front. I am going to screw in the diamond plate, and build a bracket to mount the seat over it to the two screws on the front. I will go without the seat 90% of the time anyway.

I used 3/4" hardwood and carraige bolts for back piece and stainless steel hinges on bottom, outdoor carpet and carpet glue. Less than $40.00. I will redo it when i find a piece of carpet to match. Used only existing holes for mounting.

Re: Z-7 Center Seat Mod Version 2 (Shakey Head1)

Here is TRCMs Center seat mod.

Ok, here's some pics of the final version of the mod I made for my center seat.
It is made out of 1/4" aluminum, welded, and line-x'd. It stiffened things up immensely !!

I can still put the center seat in when needed to.

Re: Z-7 Center Seat Mod Version 2 (NitroBoatBuilder)

    Scully's version

Well after seeing all the differant ways some of you others accomplished the same thing i decided to make the change myself. After some of the stiching and material was being abused by others steping on the center seat i decided it was time for it to go,plus i rearly fish with 3 in the boat.Well seeing how i run a welding and fabrication shop i just took a piece of 1/4" alum diamond plate and bent it into a zee shape to fit.Once that was done i sandblasted it so the paint would stick and applied some textured paint that kinda matched my carpet.I love the new look and couldn't be happier with the finish product.I know theres a seat section up top but didn't think anyone would have noticed if it was posted there.
