I buddy has just bought a nitro 700 with A 90 merc. He want to know which prop would be the best. The boat came with a 23p alum. and it will run 48 mph(GPS) at 5400rpm, with a 20p power tech ss it will only do 44mph with 5200 rpm, and with a laser 2 24p it will do 45 with 5100rpm. Why is the alum prop performing better and any suggestions on a prop or jackplate will be greatly appreciatted.

Alum is doing better due to the RPMS probably. Got to keep the prop in the correct RPM range tun run its best.

The other props have more cup and are heavier and thicker making them harder to turn. Or at least that is what i suspect.
