Looking for some 2.4 guidance for more RPM

I've got a 1990, 2.4 200. 32 cc heads but otherwise pretty stock. WM carbs. Light flywheel. Louvered cowl. no oil injection. 145-147 compression all holes. Ser. # 0C290372

I'm looking to have a little fun on some of the local sandbars on weekends and looking for more RPM. I have Chris Carson race reeds that will be here next week. A buddy has a 15" Super Mag offshore mid that he's not using that he will let me use (I'm 20" now). He also has a 2.0 lower. I have several questions and hope for some advice.

    1. Can I mount my motor on his 2.5 2-pc adapter? I know the ports are larger on the 2.5, will this hurt my motor much on bottom or mid range? Do I really NEED the 2.4 1-pc adapter?

    2. Do carb spacers really make a difference?

    3. I have access to a 260 exhaust divider from a 2.5 Would this help?

I'd like to turn 8500. Just short runs. Maybe 800' or 1,000 ft or so.

Can someone who had been here before me give me suggestions that really do make a difference? I'm not really in a position to send it off or do milling and such.

    Thanks!

yes,you can use the 2 pc. adapter plate, and it is best to do so., but you will need a small mod to do so,the 3 rear studs on an offshore mid are too short for a 2 pc. adapter plate, and the bolts for a 2 pc. are 1 size smaller than the studs in an o/s mid. you need to source 3 studs the same length as the bolts, and get a thin brass or stainless nut to get enuff threads covered for a good torque.,,

you can see in the pic,why you need longer rear studs,,,the holes in the bottom plate will fit over the studs, but, the center hole and sometimes the 2 outer holes,on the3 top 1/2 of the plates, need to be opened up to 7/16",with just a hand drill,to make it fit.

I can't see it spinning 8500,(that's what 2.4 bridgeports are for, ,just use good gaskets, avoid the green sierra brand,if you can.

Thanks Cajun! Any thoughts on running a 260 exhaust divider instead of my stock one?

The 200 2.4 doesnt have the torque of a 260 best to let her keep stock exhaust, with a 200 or BP, tuner ,no 2.5 parts are gonna change the port timing and exhaust flow,is this going on a shadow hull ?

Threads in a bass mid are 3/8" vs. 7/16" studs in an o/s mid. Just get coarse thread studs for the mid with fine thread up with nuts, gotta be thin nuts, same length as the bolt, minus the head.
