Thanks for the input guys! I wound up finding another lower unit on cl for about the same price. You would think those things should be easy to swap out. That blasted shift rod kept rotating on me and turned into a nightmare... And no- the lower unit was pretty beat up when I got it. I know better than to run it that shallow. Enjoy the road trip... he's right it IS a vette after all.
