    Washing Toons

What are you using to wash the toons? I have seen Toon Bright on Amazon. Good stuff?

    Thanks

Napa aluminum bright. Cheap and effective. Only takes a few minutes.

Has the boat been left in the water for extended periods? Green grundge?

If so, you'll have to go one of the acid based washes like noted above. The finish will be dull, and require polishing to get a decent shine back. I use a dual action Porter Cable polisher with a wool bonnet and aluminum/metal polish.

Thanks for the info. I was able to get the green growth off with a power washer. This fall I'll try the acid base products.

I thought it had another name. I bought it from Napa also and it works great.

Glad this subject came up. No ill effects on the trailer frame or carpet using the NAPA aluminum bright? Need to take mine out this weekend and clean it up. Been in the water all summer in the slip.

Cleaning my toons this weekend. Should I worry about the Aluminum Bright harming my trailer?

No, the acid will not harm paint, just make sure everything is rinsed well

I washed my toons and motor over the weekend after the boat had sit in Lake Hamilton since April. Was pulling it to Quachita for the day and stopoed at the carwash at Mountain Harbor. Amazing how much faster it runs, and how the gas mileage improved.
Going to use NAPA aluminum bright on them when I finish the season in October before the lake drawdown.
