Re: LETS SEE SOME PICS (__gabby)

It's an 84. I found it in SC and it's a cream puff. I have today off and have been outside all morning with the buffer and wax. I can't believe how good the condition is. It has a 94 Evinrude on the back.

Re: LETS SEE SOME PICS (Hydra-Sports) only (toddgot5fish)

I saw this thread and couldn't resist finding my FIRST high performance bassboat photo and posting it. You youngsters have probably never seen this year model. It's a 1976 (I believe) and the model was 178 (?). I bought it six months before the 150 HP V-6 came out so I always ran a 140 HP on it. As a side note the designer for HydraSports at the time was Earl Benz, the same guy that's the president of Triton now. He was obviously ahead of his time. Compared to today's rigs this boat had lousy ergonomics. The rod locker was so small you could hardly get 4 rods into it and the front deck was way too small. Notice the huge locators on the front deck and the console. All that was available were the old Super Sixty Lowrances. And the white Motorguide was the only electric motor made at the time. Still the rig ran an honest 60 MPH with a 140 Evinrude.

This photo was taken on a trip to the Kissimmee River chain in Florida. Right after this picture I reared back to set the hook on a bass and the front seat flange tore right out of the deck (wood of course), dumping me into the boat backwards (better than into the river). The drunk in the back seat is my lifelong fishing pardner, Fred.

Long gone but I had to post it anyway for old times sake. Loved that boat. It cost around $7,500 and I sold it 5 years later for $7,200 so I could buy another HydraSport. I've never made out so well selling a rig since then.

I owned two Gamblers after that but, to tell you the truth, I didn't consider them to be any better than my HydraSports.

    Thanks for looking

That was a sweet ride there Dan. I bet it was top of the line back then. I was 5 years old at that time. We just fished from the bank then.

Re: LETS SEE SOME PICS (HydraSport205)

Thanks for the help. Haven't had a chance to open her all the way up yet. Ran out of lake the other day with the speedo reading around 62ish. If anyone else has any input about getting the proper set up please let me know. I want to eventually put a JP on it.

30th Aniversary of this old beast!

Here is a pic of my 1976 15ft Hydra-Sport Hydra-Flight. It is still running as good as ever and gives any boat on the water with a 115 or smaller a run for its money. Extremely fast hole-shot and rides with only around 12 inches of the hull in the water at full throttle. Just a piece of the past.
