I bought a 1989 DV200 with a 200 Mairner. Boat was in immaculate shape and only needed carpet. So I thought! Purchased from the orig owners (owner, husband has recently passed away.) Took the boat out. With a 25p prop and a Jack plate holding prop 1.5" above pad she did right at 70mph. Got it home after a few days of hard fishing to find that the top motor bolts had pulled into the rotten transom. Here is what she looks like now!photo 1.jpgphoto 2.jpgphoto 3.jpgphoto 4.jpg

I pulled the motor off, and pulled the cap. It actually was not that hard compaired to other bass boats. You only have to pull the bump rail and about 200 screws. Carefully cut the cap away from the floor and cut all the connecting fiberglass sheets they stick inside the rod lockers etc. Across the back they used a bit of fiberglass but it was easy to get at and cut free. Next I used huge shelving as a frame and simply ratchet strapped the top right up and off. Hardly any foam, all the wires go up with the cap.... I am in the process of cutting out and replacing the Transom now. Take care to remove your alum rail boys and keep the back of these boats sealed up!

I just bought my first bass boat 1990 dv 200. Do you know if your boat hull is kevlar? And if so do you have to use kevlar materials to fix any glass repair. I am not sure yet if i have any rot issues yet it has been kept in really good shape from previous owner. My last question for now is do you have any kind of manuals documentation. I will be posting some picture later it is nice to know that someone else has the same boat.

Hey HS guys and gals. I just picked up a 1990 VS150T and have an issue of the boat wanting to porpoise even with the motor fully trimmed in. I have checked the hull for hooks and it is good. Somewhere along the line a jack plate was installed. 150 Rude with a 24 Raker prop. You can mess with the jack plate all day long and it still tries to jump out of the water. There is no way to even reach WOT so don't bother asking what those numbers are. I have been told a jack plate on this model is not the best idea or it is the prop....just looking for some help from people that own or have owned this type of boat.

Stealthdrummer, its most likely the prop. porpoising is from the prop loosing bite in the water allowing it to drop down and regain bite to bring it back up therefor you porpoise, hope this helps out.

try taking that whaletail off and lowering the motor 2in.this boat with the right setup willhaul the mail.oh yea id love to go for a ride in it.the prop is loosing bite, sounds to me like the motor is not trimming all of the way down either.this setup less the whaletail was the factory recommended setup.Check your trim and make sure the motor is going all the way down.this thing should run with this setup

the x270was one bad ride in it's day. My 1st boat was a 270sx with a 150.I never had the money back then to max it out but it still ran in the mid 60s.Cat jacks boat is just a updated x270 in the perfect color combo(just like my18' dvtsx that I have now)it should run real good with that setup

Swamp rrat , so you mean the current setup it has. what about pad to propshaft distance? would 3.5" below pad be a good place on this boat/motor combo? Also, what pitch prop? Anyone?

Back in the 80s this boat was one on the fastest one's on the water, The keen setup was with a 23 to 25 mercury laser prop. Guys 25yrs, ago would run stuff you can't buy today, cleavers choppers, old school stuff that has been made obsolete now.I would find a 23 to 25" high rake prop and spend a day on the water, just me,good luck

Hey Stealthdrummer..... Did you ever get your porpoising issues figured out? I have the exact same boat, 1990 VS 150T. I have the same 150 hp Evinrude, I run the same 24 Raker, but no jack plate, and no tail on outboard. I purchased this boat a couple years ago and initially had some porpoising issues at all speeds, so I started by lowering my motor and nothing helped, so I went the other way and I found out my motor was actually set down too low and I had to raise the motor. Please check the pad to prop shaft height. I don't remember what mine is currently set at, but i can check. I still have porpoising issues between 10-35mph, but I can run 35-60 with no issues. Because I normally am running faster than 35 mph I don't porpoise but would like to get mine setup so i can actually cruise at speeds lower than 35mph fully trimmed down without porpoising....
