New to me 1998 hydrasport.love the boat but hard to start. I have had it to the shop, you really have to pump it to start but runs real nice.
Here is my 96 175FS Fish and Ski which has a Evinrude 150.
A real pretty, versatile boat
I found tiny pics much easier to use.

Trying to decide if I should rebuild this motor or go to a fuel injected motor for fuel economy? What do you guys think? Has anyone rebuild a 1983 150 evinrude and I would like to get more horsepower out of the motor. Boat only does 43mph (gps from my phone).
You should be getting faster speeds than that with that set up. Do you think the motor needs rebuilt? There are a few things you need to tell about your setup. Do you have a Jack plate? What size prop are you running? If you have a jack plate, what is the measurement from center of prop to bottom of boat? Does your engine have good compression on all cylinders? What type spark plugs are you running? I had Champion plugs in mine and switched to NGK plugs and the motor runs a lot better. Post your question in the forum and you will get a lot of other help.

Hey Guys, quick question. Have a chance to grab this VL 485-T from a friend who's Dad has passed for $2500.00. They said it runs fine, but has had some transome work. I haven't lauched it yet because the batteries are dead. It needs a little TLC but for the most part it's solid. Any thoughts?
Maybe this will work?

Purchased this 1986 for the motor a yammer 89 2.6,but am currently using it.
lilmule, that VL-270 looks like it's in really good shape. Is the transom still solid? How does it run with the Yammy?

Transom is yet had a crack at splashwell, definate crack, former owner had tried fiberglass tape underneath and couldnt get both sides good due to angles so did a top repair in the corner with 2 layers of mat, then bolted diamond plate from transom to rear of boat should go nowhere but remains to be seen.I bought it for the motor to place on my allison but looked to good to trash, purchased boat and trailer for a very small sum and more or lesss to tow the motor home verus trying to get it into an suv so call it the boat the motor toter, have about as much money in actual boat other than repairs as what a motor toter costs at wally world. So wont be out much as trailer is worth more if no boat on it.Could have easily hidden it under some gelcoat and gold gliter, left exposed as desire to keep an eye on it.
You be the judge
repair both sides as other had signs of stress
Diamond plate
Boat
Trailer is pristine 27 dollars in fiberglass,156 in diamond plate support-20 dollars in boat as gave 200 for trailer and boat to haul motor home thus the motor toter.
Trailer is worth more than investment so was worth a try to save dont think it went bad either.Had it out a few times wind waves limited me somewhat on ky lake am regestering it now in Tn waited for repairs to see if would hold and believe it will, seems rock solid can stand on motor and wiggle jump up and down but I dont weigh but 130lbs.That yammer I think is 458.
I wont disclose how much I gave for the motor as that is why it was purchased and told the seller i wouldnt, but was 5 hrs from home and was offered to tote it back all together for 200 more from london ky.
