Lightbulb Feels like the prop is slippingoing on takeoff

    Hey group,

I've had 3 instances now on about 5 different trips where I've put the boat in gear, started to takeoff and the prop feels like it is slipping and the boat wont get on plane....when that happens boat wont run over 58 fully trimmed. If it doesn't do the "prop slip", it will run 68+ like normal.

Anyone have any idea what's going on....boat specs below...

    2015 Phoenix 819, 200hp Mercury Optimax ProXS

    Thanks!

Sounds like a bad thru hull kit or prop hub going bad . Have you taken the prop off and inspected the hub . If it ant the steel one it may be your problem .

Pull the prop and checked the hub, its good. I think the slip I'm feeling is a rough acceleration. I'm wondering if I have a coil going bad??

Yeah a spun hub would not work sometimes. and I doubt u'd even get on plane with a spun hub. Easy to check though.

Slipping would imply RPMs jumping 1-2k maybe more. is this the case? I think your on the right track.

I'm going to try and pay attention to the RPM's if it happens again tomorrow. Got to try and get through a tournament Saturday then get it in the shop to check.

What prop ? Has it worked fine before ? Does it have vent holes in the prop ? Could just be the vent holes need to be changed to smaller ones.

It has worked fine up until about 2 weeks ago, it's more like a power loss deal than a prop issue.

I'd think if he's spun a solid hub he has bigger issues (considering he has a solid hub)
    What hub are you running?

If you spun the hub the boat wouldn't get up.

Coil, fouled plg could be a number of things but sounds like a motor problem to me. A spun hub would not run 58 mph.

sometimes mine would jump up on plane just like normal. Then it wouldn't. Like a low power state. No missing or anything. Turned out to be the plugs that kick in when full throttle.
