Swapping from a 21p Solas blade to a 21p Trophy Plus

I currently have a 21p Solas HR Titan 4 prop on my 150 Opti. I have a chance to potentially buy a 21p Trophy Plus. What would the difference (if any) between the two props be as far as top speed and rpm's? The Solas turns 54 mph (gps) at 5250 rpm's.

when I purchased my procraft with a 150 efi it had a 21 tempest at 60 mph on limiter at 6150 there about. you need the lift of the tempest with the nitro. I said that to say you can probably come up with the motor for more rpm's. I have not been impressed at all with the solas props. both being 21 p. the rpm's should be close. I would give both top speed and rpm's to the tempest. solas is a through hub, is that right?

The Solas is a through the hub prop. You're referencing a tempest, but I'm looking at a trophy . Any ideas how those 2 would compare?

I now see you were speaking of a trophy. i was trying to fix my mistake. the trophy imo would give a little better speed on t.e.. sorry for the confusion. I think the tempest would be your best shot but would try to raise the motor before buying.

I will get off the tempest, it is a 3 blade and will run about 100-150 rpms higher than the 4 blade.

what is your motor height? the rpm's are low.

Motor is at 3 1/4" below pad. When I've raised it higher the handling seems to get pretty loose. I have a Tempest 24p. I get about the same speed just with higher rpms... 5450. I've thought about getting a 23p in the tempest, but Idk if it would be much better.

It is very unlikely you are getting higher RPMs with a 24p vs a 21p. The 21p is smaller in diameter and will turn more to achieve the same speed. Going from a 3 blade to a 4 blade prop usually results in a 100-200 RPM drop. A 4 blade provides better mid range power and control usually but lacks too end speed.

I have a 18.5 Astro which was Pro=Craft,150 EFI merc and when I got it had no hole shot or it would no lay over for rough water it had a 21 pitch prop.I had a chance to buy a 23 tempest plus and its great think it may or could go to a 24 pitch.It use to turn 6700 with the 21 and now with the 23 it turns 5800 at WO at 58-60 mph on GPS.

I guess I'll find out soon... I went ahead and bought the Trophy and will see what happens... after looking, the trophy is a 13 3/4" diameter prop where the Solas is a 14" prop. So I'm hoping for a few more rpms and maybe a Lil more speed.
