I netted it. Hugged the dude that caught it. Rubbed it's big belly. Watched it swim away. 35 years of fishing, best day ever.

    That thing looks ridiculous!

Released? So not really a state record?

What was the weight? That article doesn't fully expand for me.

I don't believe you have to kill a fish for it to be the state record. You just have to have it weighed on a certified scale and such and then you can release it.

I wasn't really sure, just curious. I couldn't read the full story.

Long story short - took 4 hours of chaos of getting a MONSTER tub that barely fit in my truck, water from a baitshop (can't transport live fish and lake water in boat), aerator, hauled fish to official scale, biologist and dnr guy witnessed it, brought back and let go in perfect condition. 3 gopros running from different angles caught video of our 12 fish morning. Best 8 fish 45+lb. Best 5 went 30.76lbs. Had our tournament scale that is dead on from pro tournament scales that we do our weigh-ins for our bass brawl trail so the weights are legit. Have 160gb worth of video that is being worked on. Epic day. All on film. Paperwork all signed and in the mail tomorrow morning. Fish is alive and well. We've put in a ton of trips, a ton of scanning, a ton of work into this. 19.5" length and a whopping just shy of 19" girth. Freak fish.
