Anyone Ever Broken A Bow Eye?

Just noticed the bow eye on my 2100 is broken. It broke pretty close to the middle of the u bolt. Should be fun to replace.

HAD TO REPLACE MINE YEARS AGO ON 2100 . YOU HAVE TO DRILL A HOLE BELOW THE TROLLING MOTOR TRAY , LIKE IN THE PIC. ABOVE, I GOT LUCKEY ONLY HAD TO DRILL ONE HOLE, INSTEAD OF TWO LIKE THE PIC. ABOVE.

Thanks for the replies! I did not have too much time to investigate when I saw the broken part. After seeing the picture above, I remember seeing a cover of some sort in my pedal tray. I bet the previous owner has had to replace the u-bolt before. Hopefully it won't be too bad.

it must depend on what year the boat is...my 2006 already has holes there, with a black cap covering...

It broke at some point while towing the boat. I assume maybe impact from a pothole or bump was enough to pop it. I'm sure it had developed a crack or weak spot over time.

You were supposed to tell Tyler it broke the 3rd or 4th time you broke the sound barrier. Sonic booms can do alot of damage.

On my older Gamblers,I broke 3 & it happens when you keep running the boat up on the trailer to fast & bang against it to many times.

Got the bow eye replaced. There was an access hole already cut in the deck which made it pretty easy.

Does anyone have an example of what they have done to fill the holes?

I posted in your other thread also, but my boat had a piece of vinyl or plastic of some sort that covered the hole. It was held on by a couple of screws. You could make a cover out of just about anything. I have used a thin cutting board to make panels or covers in the past.

Cut a piece of aluminum diamond plate to cover the hole in my gambler. The trolling motor pedal covers it up, too.
