Bravo I 28 by Croxton dual PVS (dont need trim tabs) by want more speed.

    Guys,

First of all, good to be back on the board. Hope you guys are well. Been a while, and golf clubs put up for about 6 months. Fishin time. Last year Croxton hooked me up with a "croxtonized" Bravo I 28p. Awesome in every way. Runnin a 1998 DE Intimidator with a 225 Pro XS. Great hole shot, runs high 70's in most conditions, depending on load. Not getting to the limiter on this prop though. Would it be worth it to try a 26p Bravo I Croxtonized to get 200-300 more rpms? Does anyone run the 26 Bravo on a ProXS motor? THanks !!!

how many rpm are you turning with the 28???? more rpm doesnt mean more speed...but sometimes it does....they say the power band on these motors is around 5800 to 5900...but i say bolt a prop on and if it runs faster than the others you have...then thats the one to keep...and throw the powerband out the window...top gps speed is the true bottom line...
the 28 may be just a little much for the 225 though...

I've got a Bravo1 that was repitched from a 26 to a 27 by Croxton, plus the dual PVS holes on a 04 EFI 250. I can get about 5600-5700 out of it, mid 70's. Cant beat it for a 'fishing' prop. Carries the load well, good bow lift, good holeshot.

Maybe 21XDC will pop in and tell you what you need to do. He magically knows when someone types in Bravo1.

How many rpms does the 28 turn?

scott..something is wrong in your set up also...that motor should turn up more than that...the bravo turns a pitch or 2 higher than a trophy or tempest...that motor ought to swing a 27 to 5800 to 6000, unless you got a different gear set up.....

Your showing about 12% slip and thats typical with most bravo1's on many hulls. I think a 26 is gonna be slower and not much better in holeshot. This is where i wish they were made in odd pitch's as well. I just had Mark build me another 27P bravo1 out of a 26, and did all the mods we have found beneficial. I had it done for my friend with a 200 merc/Intimidator. It has never been run since the B&BP/Mods. I want him to test it and if he's not buying it, It will be going up for sale soon.

Can you raise the motor? Full pull on throttle linkage/hot foot?

Re: Bravo I 28 by Croxton dual PVS (trashy)

Thanks Guys. I love my Bravo I, just have that little need to maximize speed with this prop. All the best characteristics for my boat I get with the Bravo. Hole shot and low speed cruising is 10 times better than with the 27 tempest, but tempest runs faster on top end by 3 or 4 mph. I will check the throttle cable and make sure I am getting max throw. The 27 Tempest is by far the fastest prop I have tested, however I prefer the Bravo because of cannon holeshot and solid handling.

    I have both a 26 and 28 Bravo that have been B&B.

You're never going to get a Bravo to run the speeds of a Trophy or Tempest, close..but 2 to 3 mph slower. If you take pitch out to gain RPM's, you're going to lose top end speed.

I lost a few mph when I went from a 27 Trophy Plus to the 27 Bravo1 but the switch was worth it. The Trophy was definitely the faster prop but it made the boat feel 'squirly' when I got it up above 5300. With the Bravo1 I feel like I have better control when running high speeds and in corners. I guess the bigger diameter might have something to do with that.

ldbass, what do you think the problem is with the setup? I'm pretty much satisfied with the way I'm running now....what would you change?

Re: Bravo I 28 by Croxton dual PVS (Gambler250)

Would you guys agree that I am pretty much as good as it gets with the 28 bravo I @ upper 70's? I can live with it because the handling characteristics are so awesome especially the hole shot that I just can't give those up for 3 or 4mph gain with the tempest. The hole shot is truly incredible with the dual PVS Bravo. Totally changed my fishing experience being able to get on plane that fast. If you have not tried the bravo I "Croxtonized" I heavily recommend it. Especially if you move around a lot when you fish. Particularly if you have an older Gambler like my 98 without trim tabs, this prop changed my fishing experience unbelievably.

With a lot of work, you can make a Tempest holeshot almost as good as a Bravo, and run two to three MPH faster, but you lose the handling.

Unless you gain some RPM's, without modifying the prop, you're at the limit.

Re: Bravo I 28 by Croxton dual PVS (Gamblinman)

Not to step out of line here.. Todd @ Hydromotive can work up a Quad IV X-O/B in odd or even pitches with the dual PVS holes.. I run the 26P on mine and turn it in cool weather(YEsterday was 57*) to 6700rpm @ 79.5mph loaded to fish for two.. Like the Bravo the handling and Holeshot is awesome and the prop is VERY durable as well.. The river here is very high from all the rain up north so ther is a lot of debri in the water but no nicks or anything on the prop...

    Just an alternative...

FYI... A Quad4X-OB is a bravo1 copy cast by turbo and worked by MC.

I know it is a Bravo copy, I was just offering the info because they are offered in even and odd pitches..PLus Todd is a great guy to deal with.. He is not happy with the prop until the customer is happy, period...
